Influences: My given name is Sekeena Clarkson. My stage name is F.L.A.M.E. which means For the Love of Art and Music Eternally. All my life music has been in me, around me and beside me. The best friend I ever had. When I was a child, Country, Classical, Disco and Gospel Music surrounded me. Since 1982 I've had a love for writing. After I wrote a piece, I'd keep all of my poems in a suitcase. One day I opened it up and read what I wrote and been on a mission ever since. My mother was an actress, and so I learned how to be an effective reader by helping her with her lines. My mother kept me surrounded by people of the arts. I can remember Ernest Dickerson (Cinematographer for Spike Lee's earlier movies) babysitting me in his photo lab while Mommy went to class. My background in dance came from a wonderful loving family. Luther Vandross' sister worked in the same nursing home as my mother. She is lovingly rememberd as Aunt Pat. She took me into her home as a result of family problems and sent me to La Rock Bey (africa dancing school). From there, I learned how to express myself through dance. A few years after that I wrote my first play in third grade. After marriage, my husband and I owned a studio, to which we developed artists, recorded them and taught MPC 2000 classes. This is when I started to rhyme and do spoken word. I met up with a wonderful producer named Alex Teamer and the rest is history. I recorded my debut album entitled "Listen". and was blessed to work with my son (Animation) on song ..5 entitled "Forever Twenty", also I was fortunate to collaborate with Ikon on song ..7 entitled "Divide and Conquer". Finally an artist named Justa Verse song ..13 entitled "Conversation Piece". This journey has been great, but it's not over. My mission, is to bring Love, Positivity, Respect and Humility back to Hip-Hop.
