where do I start?! ..... being a student of the university of life you tend to gather all manner of interests along the way, mine being very broad, a few under the belt. Having moved from South Africa at a young age (10) I was introduced to a rather relaxed environment in the UK. For example the schools were so much more forgiving. taking onboard the new meaning of school rules life was so much easier, when I say easier i mean less strict to say the least .... what is a boy to do.... in my case that meant bend the rules to new boundaries... BOUNDARIES ... I mean outer limits ... well lets say just outside the school, I was only 12 at the time... Anyway in South Africa we used to be punished for passing a rubber in lessons... punishment being what we called 'jacks' a good caning across the arse .... and trust me you could tell if your teacher had had an argument with his wife that morning.. definitely if you had red marks still the next day... Female teacher and you're in the shit, you guessed it... to the 'head' master of giving the cane... ouch!..... so you can see how the lenient rules were a shock to my system.... well thats my excuse anyway... school was fun and tuff at the same time trying to intergrate was hard when every other pupil thought my parents were slave traders of some form ... I look back at it with amusement now... started smoking at 12... me and and a bunch of the other rejects used to think we were well cool rolling up leaves in A4 and lighting it with a magnifing glass ... brought a new meaning to the word smoker's cough ... trust me it was fucking harsh.... other early interests were skateboarding (fiercely competitive), drumming (chris the crazy drummer), rugby/cricket (i was good at sports 1st teams and that) art (CREATIVE i was called...mm) and a keen interest in disrupting school assemblies my favourite being final assembly where me and a mate taped stink bombs to the head's chair legs ... christ did it stink when he sat down.. crunch...our punishment was to lick closed 300 envelopes each (school reports) I will never forget the taste of glue gum.... yuck!
Senior school was much better I turned into a loveable rogue... still up to no good but a bit more with it (streetwise) after all everything to play for. As for activities (extracurricular) that is, included music, alcohol and girls.... in the holidays I would play golf and party hard... some extreme half-term house parties were organised by us.... one which ended up in us rearranging someone's front room in their swimming pool.. seemed like a good idea by the junior host at the time.... ALCOHOL!.... more interests after school were the rave scene, leaving home , squatting, djing, working on cars, computers, fishing, running my own record shop, making babies (twins)..now in scotland building house ....
