Chyna Layne is currently filming the feature, PUSH, based on the bestselling novel by Sapphire and directed by Lee Daniels. In PUSH, Chyna portrays Rhonda, a young incest survivor who overcomes a illiteracy and a painful past.
Award-winning actress, Chyna Layne, was raised in East New York, Brooklyn and is commonly referred to as a young Diahann Carroll. A professional actor since adolescence, Chyna Layne has done near 40 films, five national commercials and received rave reviews for her performance as Deyah Kingston, a young and pregnant Jamaican woman who is HIV-positive in HBO's LIFE SUPPORT. For her powerful performance as a young mother in SILENT CRIES OF A CHILD, she received the Best Actress Award in the short film category at the 2007 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival. Quickly becoming a classic, the faith-based film A DEEPER LOVE, is the first film produced under her newly formed company, Lawrence Layne Productions. In the film, The Source describes her perfomance as "stunning." She is highly recognized as the face of the hilarious commercials for Dr. Miracle hair relaxer. She gives another hilarious performance in the Dunkin Donuts commercial with Jermaine Dupri, directed by Zach Braff. She gained nationwide recognition when she competed against thousands in TNT's Dramatic Auditions Competition earning one of the highly coveted top 20 spots. Skilled in martial arts, the Asian temptation studies Filipino stick fighting and wushu. Solidifying her status as an action star, she has flexed her muscles in numerous films, performing her own stunts. Chyna is very active in her community with issues affecting the youth and hopes to, one day, build a community center in her hometown, East New York, Brooklyn.
