Martial arts, music (listening... but then again EVERYBODY"S into that) video games, drawing, writing, and reading (hardly anyone does that anymore in this country). And of course, internet surfing, though I don't have as much time as I used to for that anymore.
hmm... already met people whom I've considered my friends... guess I wouldn't mind meeting a few of them again. Oh, you mean "famous" people. Well, there's some of my favorite beat makers and musicians, like Remarc, Dj Shadow, KRS One, Erule, The Roots... eh, too many to name. I'd also love to meet Adam Hsu... he's one of the most renown chinese martial artists. Dr. Yang Jwing Ming is another one.
Ok, I'm one of those people who loves anything that has a good groove to it. But I do have some favorite genres. Jungle is definately one of them, particularly ragga jungle (though other types are fine with me too). Just not the sterile sounding kind like what they tend to call drum and bass... it just doesn't sound right to me. Give me those amen breaks anytime. And don't be afraid to make something soulfull and/or silly with it from time to time. Also love reggae, TRUE SCHOOL hip hop (the shit they play on the radio today isn't hip hop... I'm sorry but you can't fool me with that fake "pop rap" crap. If it is, it's died, big time), trip hop, acid jazz... let's just say I like a lot of electronic music. I also am into haitian music, though it's hard to find that in this country. I miss my dad's record collection...And for the gods' sake, bring back funk!
To be honest, I haven't seen a good movie in a while, but then again I haven't had the time really. Still, I got my favrorite genre's. Of course I love action stuff (grew up watching a major chunk of the Shaw Bros. classic kung fu films.), also comedies, good thrillers (especially psychological ones), sci fi, and drama. And yes, I'm a Star Wars fan. What can I say, I like the films. I don't see them as some earth shattering, life changing tomes like a lot of other people, nor do I expect a whole lot of them. They're just decent entertainment, which is all I expect out of them really. People tend to expect way too much out of them.
I don't watch Tv. No, I'm serious.
Ah I love books. But only the good ones. :-P I've read way too many to list, but here are a few favorites:Mathew Stover: I LOVE this guy's work. His fiction is always dark, gritty, entertaining, and very thought provoking. Jericho Moon is a very good example of his style, though I don't think the bible thumpers will like it much (that's ok though... they barely count as people). His Star Wars fiction is also fantastic: when that New Jedi Order series was going on, Traitor was the one that stood out as the most interesting of the bunch. To this day I still go back to it, while the others I haven't touched nearly as often. There's a reason why Stover was picked to do the novelization for Ep3, and he did a fantastic job on it, by the way. Also, there's the Project Censored books. They've been coming out with one every year since 1976, and each one is very interesting. Pretty much, it's a collection of important news events that the mainstream news media never reports. If you give even the slightest damn about what's really going on around you, you owe it to yourself to pick these up, or at least check out their site. Then there's all my martial arts books. Got a whole bunch of them, including a few in chinese. No, I don't read chinese, so I'm probably stupid for getting them. There's classic forms in there though, so I had to nab them. I do know some people who do know chinese, and I plan on getting in touch with them in hopes they can translate some of this stuff. Yeah, sad, I know.Oh, can't forget Neil Gaiman. Neverwhere still remains my favorite book he's written.
Hate to sound corny, but my hero's are my parents. I wouldn't be who I am without them.
