mad doc x as he wrote this about us,,,,,,he's pure genius......The Freestylers were formed in 1996 when DJs and dance music producers Matt Cantor, bastard son of Sir Jimmy Saville and Carol Vordeman, Aston Harvey, half-brother of Ron Jeremy and (initially) Andrew Galea (Along with Mad Doctor X an actual non-minging band member) joined forces after meeting in the basement of a Soho sex shop where they were buying Amylnitrate. All three of them had been involved in the death of the British dance music scene since the 1980s. Cantor had recorded as Cut n' Paste and Strike with Andy Gardner (Plump DJs). Aston Harvey recorded as Blapps! Posse best known for the 1990 breakbeat dance hit "Don't Hold Back" with tru music genius Jazzy Jason aka DJ Jason aka Jay Rock aka Mad Doctor X before working with Definition of Sound, Rebel MC and DJ Rap (as DJ Rap and Aston). He left after a row with Rap because she wouldn't let him have his name first (ie Aston and Rap). Harvey joined with Galea under the name Sol Brothers to do some cheezy Todd Terry rip-offs before Cantor was recruited to form the Freestylers coz he could play the black notes on a keyboard. The group took their name from their first sample "Don't Stop The Rock" by Freestyle. Luckily the record with the Gay Dad sample never got released or heaven knows what they would have been called...Gay? As if I cut and pasted that from Wikipedia....note this biog was written by jason blapps...who said i take myself seriously!
