Autumnus Ortus OUT NOW on Rosewater Records!

About Me

eric and joe from worn in red started playing music together in 1998, when the two were still in high school. their band, moments without, played throughout the region, and country, but finally died in 2001. in 2004, joe and eric got back together with new bassist adam stavola to begin writing songs that were heavily influenced by mid to late 90's "screamo" and indie music. brad perry, singer and bassist for charlottesville's skyline awake, began drumming for the band after skyline broke up. the four make up an intense group who's music ranges from soft to exploding, and everywhere in between.

In July of 2006, Brendan Murphy (fomerly of Skyline Awake and Brand New Disaster) joined on guitar, and Eric moved over to bass. This change seems to be working quite well. The live shows, heaved out upon sweaty rooms, prompted one rock journalist to dub this newer line-up, "proven sock-knockers". Hide your foot-mittens if you see us near your town.

Please don't send form letters trying to book shows with us, or anyone. The idea of having a connection like myspace should be a good one, not a way to trade shows that will end up unattended and disappointing. By flooding the market with shoddy shows fans become apathetic. That said, if you would generally like to play a show with us, and have a unique sound we might find interesting, let us know. We will never respond to any form letters, and I personally hope that others will adopt this policy, because if we don't get rid of bands touring just to hear themselves play, our scene will end up shit.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: none, too poor for that
Band Members: joe, eric, brendan, brad
Influences: drive like jehu, lazycain, four hundred years, planes mistaken for stars, small brown bike, early sunny day real state, fugazi, unwound, sleepytime trio, refused, appleseed cast, and early engine down among many others.
Sounds Like: "...two-guitar, bass, and drums progressive punk/rock/...you know, I don't know exactly what kind of rock they were. There was a lot of heavy melodic guitar and well-placed screaming. Rock with screaming can quickly become annoying, but these guys are tight musicians, and their melodies and spot-on changes really carried the tunes. The screams were a welcome exclamation. Although the songs were short, each was memorable, employing a different rhythmic or sonic element...Worn In Red should indeed be heard."
- Damani Harrison, The Hook, October 6-12, 2005.

"Mid-paced post-hardcore with mixing and interlaying guitar work over pounding drums and bass with vocals that switch between flat out gutted screams to chopped spoken word. A darker element definitely comes out of the music for a more depressed sound that's aggressive and energetic."
- Kevin Nunn, The FEST 5 Handbook, October, 2006.

"...proven sock-knocking abilities."
