If i had interests i probably wouldnt be here - but i love music and being a fab radio personality (not my words!) There's plenty I love beyond music btw...
Anyone that intrigues me and seems interesting, this section is quite depressing because I seem to find myself wanting to meet a lot of people who arent actually alive anymore :SAlso lots of people who have pissed me off over the years, often i'd almost rather meet them than my idols - people like Bono or Boris Johnson. I wouldnt know what to say to someone like Thom Yorke or Omar, just geek music with them i guess
So I'm Caving and writing a list of bands I love - Radiohead (!), Arcade Fire, Velvet Undergroud, Lou Reed, Aphex Twin, SquarePusher, Venetian Snares, Four Tet, Tortoise, Yo La Tengo, Plaid, U.N.K.L.E and therefore the genius of James Lavelle, DJ Shadow, DJ Food, DJ Yoda, Mars Volta, Omar A. Rodriguez, Bright Eyes, TV on the Radio, Rufus Wainwright, Animal Collective, Bat for Lashes, At The Drive-In, Mogwai, De Facto, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Queens of the Stone Age, 65daysofstatic, Yes, Peeping Tom, Beach Boys, Beastie Boys, Bjork, Bob Dylan, Hot Chip, Ladytron, FingaThing, Elliott Smith, dntel, Interpol, Howling Bells, Joanna Newsome, Jurassic 5, NWA, LCD Soundsystem, De La Soul, Cut Chemist, Talib Kweli, MF Doom, Clor, The Cure, Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens, The Cooper Temple Clause, Pure Reason Revolution, The Kills, The Go! Team, Deerhoof, The Earlies, The Doors, The Flaming Lips, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Anything on Atlantic Records (Aretha, Ray etc etc) or Trojan (the home of Reggae and Dub), The Pixies, The Smiths, Morrissey. Oi Va Voi, Acoustic Ladyland, Polar Bear, Love, Royksopp, Inspired Insomniac, Blakfish, Old School Tie, Split The Sky, Patrick Wolf, The Clash, The Who, Air, Massive Attack, Jimi Hendrix, Bowie, Costello, Frank Zappa, Lo-Bat, Immortal Technique, Boards of Canada, Mum, The Notwist, Broken Social Scene, Tool, Razornaut, Autechre, Mono, Edit, Rage, The Shins, Lady Fuz, Spiritalised, Portishead, M83, Mr Scruff, Pink Floyd, Parliament, Cinematic Orchestra, Jehst, Lemon Jelly, Jimi, Talvin Singh, Quantic, Arab Strap, Fela Kuti, Fridge, Gang of Four, Panda Bear and Radiohead… I’m sure I could go on but that is already a little long :S After all that, this fella isn't half bad.....
Wasn't gonna bother with this section, but if i only put something under music i would seem extremely monofaceted (I swear its a real word!! and if its not then im glad to have made it up!)
Ummm... Peep Show, The Office both US and UK (Steve Carrell is a modern genius), Lost, 24, South Park, The Mighty Boosh... they all seem really obvious so im probably not gonna carry on
I've been reading all the really obvious student books - 100 years of solitude, Hunter S.Thompson Books, Bukowski, The Diceman etc etc etc although just picked up are you dave gorman for a light train read and was suprised how much i enjoyed it.
Hercules, Odysseus, Jason, Achilles
