PHAYME (pronounced fame)

About Me

I used to have a regular artist bio posted, but that got tired and old so I'll tell you my story (I'll try to make it brief) in my own words..My name is PHAYME (pronounced fame) and I'm an emcee who spits fire! I was probably born to be a rap star since my dad was also in entertainment, but didn't start actually recording until the 90's. I had a stint with a couple of female rap groups, but eventually ended up doing my own thing (u know how it goes). I was blessed to meet an investor who allowed me to drop my first solo project in the "D" (Detroit if you're confused) in 2002 which made a lot of noise in a short period of time. Unfortunately, life for an undeground rap artist (especially a female) can become an expensive cycle that leads to nowhere. Luckily, I always believed in education and making a living, so I'm able to maintain and stay afloat while I pursue my dream. If you ask where I'm from, I can't give you a straight answer. I grew up in Jersey, moved to Detroit for a while and now I'm back east (Scrilla-delphia). I've done a couple of mixtapes since I've been out here and worked with a few producers, but I'm still looking for that exceptional beat-miester with a sound that will make my lyrics pop.
I'm not good at comparing myself to other female artists, but feel free to listen to the tracks above (that's just a sample believe it) and make your own comparison. I'm influenced by all the greats of course {Lyte, Shante, Digga, Rage, Hill}, but I bring my version of sass and class to the game..
Trust when I say you'll be hearing and seeing more of me real soon..
SEE YA AT THE TOP!
SELECT THE ALBUM COVER BELOW TO BUY THE EP on CD Baby or purchase tracks separately via Snocap.
Please note, The version of "Do Yo' Thang" sold as a single is the street version and contains explicit language, "Back Door" is not sold as a single at this time. Additional tracks however are sold as singles (Decisions, At Last, Ghetto Swingin', etc.) but not available on the EP.. In short, just buy everything!
