I am here for Friends

About Me

I have resently opened a web site that allows me to sell my homemade crafts. I have handmade soap and hand knitted items for sell. I have a link below, please check it out.
http://www.MtnLady.etsy.comMy family is my life. I have been married to my husband for 8 years, and we live in a very small communitee near Yosemite. The elevation here is about 5000 ft. and we regularly get 3+ feet of snow in the winter. My daughter is in her third year of college about 70 miles away. :o( I have two dogs; one Chihuahua, Socks and one Mexican Hairless (AKA: Xoloitzcuintle), Gizmo. I also have one desert tortoise who is 3 years old named Squirt. My neighbors yellow lab comes over when he is left alone. I tell my neighbor, "He comes over for his Chihuahua lessons".
Being an "empty nester" for the past 3 years, my husband and I decided to purchesed a 26 ft. 5th wheel and we regularly travel to Monterey, CA, aprox. 4 hrs. away. I vacationed there and in Santa Cruz as a child and have very fond memories of the area. Recently, my hubby and I have discovered wine tasting rooms in the area and frequent them whenever we are in the area.
I can be rather fanatical about Lord of the Rings (the books more so than the movies), Lost, Star Trek, my knitting and making soap.

My Interests

My interest are: God, my family and pets, a GOOD fantasy book, researching LOST theories and my hobbies. Right now, I'm knitting and making soap.

CURRENT MOON lunar phases

I'd like to meet:

Damon Lindelof and J. J. Abrams, the executive producer and one of the creators of LOST. Lindelof is co-producing Star Trek XI with J. J. Abrams. He is a self-professed Stephen King fan and an avid Star Wars fan, as is Abrams. After Lost concludes in 2010, it is widely believed that he will co-write and produce a film adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series with J.J. Abrams. This info is from Wikipedia and Lostpedia.

ODI--Embrace your Fear

Robert Marston Fanney, author of Luthiel's Song, Dreams of the Ringedvale and War of the Mists.

Music:

The one CD I must have on any road trip is, DIVA by Annie Lennox. I bought my first iPod in '05 and have loaded it with over 1000 songs. I loaded current tunes as well as music from the 70's and 80's. The artists I have played the most are; AC/DC, Aerosmith, Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Evanescence and Pink. Here are a few of my most played songs. I find these songs quit suprising because they are actually "before-my-time": Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield and Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greengaum.

Movies:

Here are two movies I'm looking forward to seeing;X-Files sequel later, in 2008.
Star Trek sequel in 2009. This time the director will be J. J. Abrams of LOST fame.
I don't watch many movies in the theater. The closest movie theater is 70 miles away. I love the extended versions of The Lord of the Rings movies because they are more like the books. Other movies I have on DVD and watch regularly are; Eight Legged Freaks, Napolian Dynamite, Throw Moma From the Train, Raising Arizona, Fried Green Tomatoes, 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, The Princess Bride, Secondhand Lions and My Cousin Vinny. I have to confess, I watch RHPS every Halloween and A Christmas Story every Christmas.I also like movies that started out as skits on Saturday Night Live like; Coneheads, Superstar and Night at the Roxbury. I will make an effort to go see anything by M. Night Shymalan on the big screen.

Television:

I grew up watching Star Trek and Lost in Space. Today, I don't watch much TV, but do like my scifi. I will watch Lost, Battlestar Gallactics and 24. I WILL NOT WATCH REALITY SHOWS!! When a camera is pointed at people, they act, THEY'RE NOT REAL!

Books:

I have read each of my favorite books several times. They are The Lord of the Rings and The Once and Future King. I use my iPod more for audiobooks than music. Current books I have loaded are; A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, A Gift of Dragons by Anne McCaffrey, Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke, The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks, The Wheel of Time: The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn both by Rogert Jordan and Star Trek: Spock vs. Q by Leonard Nimoy never gets old.

During the LOST hiatus, I have joined Sawyer's Book Club and we are reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.

Heroes:

My hero must be our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. But, I have to say that my husband is my real-life hero because of everything he does for me and our family.
