This alternative/rock quartet has been stirring things up in Cape Town since 2004. Their artful, intense, and melodic approach to their music has already seen them walk away at the Genuine Miller Draft Battle of the Bands 2006 with 2nd place. They have played alongside South African greats, Tree63 at the Bellville Velodrome, and been part of the five week Get Up and Go '06 tour in Cape Town, and have also played many gigs at local venues in, and around Cape Town.
Marcel Rossouw heads up Sitis with his powerful vocals and intense guitar playing, accompanied by Garth Dorr's creative and inspiring drumming while Brian Lee adds smooth but edgy bottom end on the bass. Completing the band, Sheldon Moultrie colours the melody with his prominent guitar playing.
Sitis is the latin word which describes thirst or eager desire. Their message is one of taking life head-on, and looking back with a smile, knowing you've made the most of it. "Our band isn't just about the music", says Sheldon "it's about us as human beings, and who we are becoming each day. I believe everyone should live a life that is bigger than themselves. This band is just a way in which to accomplish that."
The band recorded a demo containing five tracks in 2005 which is currently given out and sold at shows. The fascinating thing about Sitis is the amount of new material they come up with in such a short period of time.
If you had to look in the dictionary under "crowd-pleasers" you'd probably find a picture of them there. So if you want to impress your girlfriend, take her to their next show.....
