" Genetics is a 25 year old producer based in south west London. Originanally from a musical background he started out playing live intruments including drums and piano. He began listening to drum and bass from the age of 14 and after being influenced by a friend started mixing on a pair of Sound labs. He started going out to Metal Headz nights at the ' Blue note ' in Hoxton square and then to ' Leisure Lounge ' in Chancery Lane, listening to sets from Grooverider, Goldie, Kemistry & Storm, Randall and Doc Scott. He began producing music in school, missing lessons to work on tunes in the music room.
He got his first set up at 16, starting out with an Atari running cubase and an EMU6400 sampler, he made the enevitable transition to software at around 20 and now uses a G5 with Logic Pro 7. While djing at a university night he was introduced to well known drum and bass mastering engineer Neil Devine who helped him with production and promoted his music. He was introduced to Mampi Swift who released his first track ' pollution ' under the name ' sine ' on Charge records which was well recieved and got good support from djs. In 2005 he met Killa B from the Holdtight crew and subsiquently put out the track ' Extinction ' on the recent ' Powder to the people ' EP on Industry records as well as remixing one of the Holdtight anthems ' Old times '. In 2005 Genetics won best drum and bass act at the DIESEL U MUSIC awards. Past winners include Mylo and The Magic Numbers. Expanding the horizons, Genetics recently joined forces with another south London producers to form PRINCIPLEsound and is now also working on music influenced by DNB, Hip Hop, Grime, House, RNB and others.
