Ria/Klassic AMP (Amplified) - two female mc’s from south London –came together in 2005.
Growing up in the same area under the same influences for years, when they originally started ‘playing out’ as school kids at the ages of 7 and 10 neither of them were aware that the relationship they had would be so important in the future.At the age of sixteen, Ria began engineering and co-hosting for a well known legal radio station. Being heavily influenced by the artists and music she was surrounded with at the station, she found herself becoming more interested in being on the tracks than playing them. Originally, Ria would MC over garage beats finding as much time as possible to be in the studio. In 2004 she began working for a nationwide talent show where she gained live engineering experience and stage management skills. Linking up with the host of the talent show, fellow rapper and south Londoner English Kid she went on to perform at various events featuring on the track ‘Just 2 Grilly’.Meanwhile Klassic who had been rapping/ writing rhymes from her early teens enjoyed hip hop to the fullest and began rapping with various other rap artists. She began frequently attending studio to make tracks whilst doing media studies at college. Listening to artists such as Jay-Z, Nas and Missy Elliot helped Klassic to maintain high standards when it came to turning her thoughts into verses. Realising she liked the stories these artists told she decided to write and tell her own. Hooking up with Ria in 2005, they began showcasing their tracks at live events, open mics and showcases getting an overwhelming response from the crowd each time.Now grown up Ria (23) and Klassic (20) have combined their passion for music, creativeness and previous experience to form a unique combination working alongside various producers including South London based production outfit Principle Sound.
