About Me

As the former lead singer of the indie bands GlassCandle, Summit242, and Waiting for Thursday, (and proud father of a new baby boy, Braeden Thomas!) Heath describes his solo endeavor as "a step in the right direction". Currently working on the new release, "Theory of Flight", he has worked to write an album that parallels the struggle of reaching out for what's ahead.
"I have had so many things happen these last 2 years and it's tough just to keep up! My wife and I just had our first child, I've partnered up with some amazing organizations like IGNITION (a national conference/showcase that works with independent artists) and Next Generation Mission (a missions group that has a heart for bringing music to places around the globe), and all the while writing music. During this time, I have noticed a familiar tendency - how I often try to lock life down and contain it. I have this drive to keep things from getting out of hand, and yet life is almost always... out of hand. While playing in Scotland recently, I saw an engraving on a rock wall that said, "Clay the life - Plaster the death - Marble the revolution". To me, that meant to keep life moldable, let your death be something that can be built on, and let the drive to change the world be a permanent fixture in our lives. This album we are working on focuses on just that, letting go of our fear of failure and daring to make something great happen. We are almost finished with production on this new project, and the songs I have been writing for it are a HUGE jump towards the type of music that I want to create. Hopefully they will connect with people with an even deeper transparency!" The new project is a departure for Heath, being the first project in years that is not specifically geared towards corporate worship.
As the founder and co-owner of MakeShift Records, a growing independent record label based in the southwest, Heath is very involved in promoting the local scene and independent artists across the nation. He is also one of the creators and directors of IGNITION: Conference & Showcase, which has been instrumental in propelling several artists into the national scene and a team leader for Next Generation Mission, which leads teams of bands to the U.K./Europe, and the Caribbean.
"Art is a craft that you constantly work at. You never really arrive, but the road you walk to get there holds a wealth of inspiration."
