His work is creative in idea and in production. It is professionally put together and can stay in the cd changer for years. He values the quality and art of his craft and music in general more than anything else.
The past year has been very successful one for DJ Jay-O. His “Gangsta Musik” series highlighting the best of the South with the best of the Midwest has become very influential across the Midwest. “Life Stories: The Lil Boosie Collective” was a smash - the two part series including Lil Boosie & Webbie collective tapes was widely acclaimed and certified Jay-O’s name nationwide.
Raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, Jay-O became familiar with a good mix of music growing up. He started making mixtapes in high school but got his real start as a Hip-Hop DJ when he got his first pair of turntables at Indiana University in 2003. The art consumed him from then on and since he has done college radio, clubs, parties, made a strong name for himself on the mixtape scene and even had a show on Sirius Satellite Radio’s “Rep Yo Set” in November. He is a member of Atlanta DJ Scream’s Hoodrich Entertainment family.
There’s no stopping or slowing Jay-O down; when he puts his mind to something, it gets accomplished. With each extremely well thought out project he gets better and more and more acknowledgment and success. With his extensive work with regional artists, new classic mixtapes coming steadily, and an entertainment company in the works, the future looks bright for DJ Jay-O.
