It's Daniele Luppi's trusty rhythm section, featuring Luca Serico on drums and Alessandro Arcuri on bass, that had the idea, back in 1999, to play live the most famous Cocktail/Lounge tunes. The duo already recorded many songs with Daniele Luppi, both for IRMA Records compilations, for independent movies soundtracks and for American musical libraries as well.
With a guitarist and an organ player they started out as an instrumental quartet, switching then towards a more catchy repertoire, thanks to the addition to their line-up of the singer Tiziana Guerra, formerly with the "summertime" and "notenere" gospel choirs.
Recently the band started a collaboration with Moon DJ (resident DJ for the Banale club in Padua, Italy), offering a full evening of entertainment with the typical seventies sound.
The Smart Set's live performances, that started in the coolest clubs in Padua (Big Club, Villabarbieri, Fish Market), quickly spread to all the region's major discos. They've been hosted at the Lounge happening "the Spritz Hour" at the Terrazzamare, in Jesolo for two years in a row, playing in front of a couple thousand people.
They played with the Lounge DJ Sir Taylor at the Molocinque and Marghera Estate Village's Lounge reviews, and recently they've been hosted at the notorious Vapore, one of the classic and most notable music clubs of the region.
The band's live performances reached also the nearby regions, with concerts at the Fura disco in Desenzano, at the famous Link and La Scuderia in Bologna, and with their performance at the Giaguaro Expo 2001 Lounge festival in Cesenatico and at the Rocca di Luna 2001 - Lounge Flowers exhibition, in Montefiore Conca. The band also opened the 2002 edition of Mittelmoda, in Gorizia.
The Smart Set's studio work led to the release of some singles in as many compilations, both with original and cover tunes, such as the latest "the Party", featured in IRMA Records' "Mo'Plen Bacharach".
