About Me

..Hi! I’m Rodney Shenk. Over the years, I’ve had the priviledge of doing some fun stuff while playing alongside some of my closest friends and family in a couple bands, namely The Sharks and 606 (a.k.a. Six O Six, a.k.a. Sixosix): We’ve shared the stage with the likes of Howard Jones, Jon Secada, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Cause & Effect, Stevie B., Foghat, Firehouse, Gene Loves Jezebel, DeGarmo and Key, Bash ’N The Code and more.Other notables include (in chronological order):
• Headlining St. Pete Pier’s 1991 New Year’s Eve party (100,000 people in attendance)
• Featured band for USF’s Bull Blast at The Sun Dome
• Several Bennigan’s St. Patrick’s Day big tent parties (setting an all-time attendance record at the Sarasota store)
• Full-page feature in the Sarasota Herald Tribune, titled “Awash In Controversy” (exploring the tension between the band’s Mennonite heritage and playing in bars)
• Headlining at Hard Rock in Orlando
• Pleasure Island in Disney World (twice on the main stage and twice in the Beach Club)
• Headlined for various out-of-state college concerts & fraternity parties
• Brought to Kentucky just to play the birthday party of the largest alcohol distributor in the state of Kentucky
• Brought back to Kentucky to play the Phoenix Hill Tavern during The Kentucky Derby
• Playing for the Tampa Bay Bucs Kick-Off Party at the Tampa Stadium
• Won an Addy for People’s Choice for Best Jingle
• 4-year house band at Harpo’s of Ybor City, regularly playing before a house-estimated 10,000 people each weekend. My main love is songwriting. Three CDs of original music:
The ten-track “Never...Ever...” by The Sharks ..
The fifteen track “Awash In Controversy” by 606 ..
The eleven-track “I Can” by 606 of which track ..7, “I’ve Got Something” won Runner Up in the Dance Category of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest in 1999 (this is the largest song writing contest in the world). ..
During the day I have a small aluminum construction company (Shenk Aluminum). At night I can be found playing in one form or another 4 or 5 nights a week in the greater Sarasota area.Hope to see ya out!
