My Interests

You can see many of my interests in the topics I write about. I also like peace, civil rights, and labor activism, studying, reading, writing, teaching, making friends, dancing (I danced folklórico for 7 years), arts, and all that stuff.

I'd like to meet:

I never thought I'd have to do this. I don't accept friend requests from bands. I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know in "real" life. Despite these caveats, I am still a reasonable person and open to persuasion, so if you have an important unsolicited message for me, go ahead and send it. And to be honest I have accepted friend requests from gente desconocida before, but its usually because they have impressed me in some way.

Music:

I try to support my local bands as much as possible. I love pretty much every kind of music. Check out my LaunchCast station.

Movies:

Yellow Submarine , Friday, the Cantinflas movies, City of God , The Princess Bride , The Producers (the original), Paper Moon ,

Television:

The Simpsons, Jeopardy, C-SPAN (especially BookTV), local public access

Books:

I used to use this space to list my recently-read books, but I haven't keeping it up. If you want to know what I've been reading recently, check my blog. I try to review all the books I read there.Instead, I'll use this space to list the authors and books I seem to keep recommending. To get a better perspective on reality, read Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Tom Robbins. To trip out, read Jorge Luis Borges and Carlos Castaneda. You'll also want to read Cows Are Freaky When They Look at You, Herman Hesse's Siddhartha, Holy Blood, Holy Grail (and the rest of the series),

Heroes:

My heroes section is still not working! 8[
