PANDAS. (ie. WWF, panda suits, tare panda, panda drawings, panda mobile, plastic pandas, panda dolls, fur real panda, panda berry tea, the great panda adventure, panda blanket, panda licorice, ty panda, panda puppets, bobble head panda, panda cookie jars, pandamonium, panda puzzles, panda pez, panda placemats, pandora's box panda, sexual harrassment panda, panda in the passenger seat, panda key chain, panda books, too many panda, antique panda, ceramic panda, celestial seasonings panda, panda pins, giant stuffed panda, broken panda mug, dr. suess panda, paperclip panda, panda soap dispenser, panda towels, panda plates, panda stickers, dancing in panda costume while singing "i can't get no satisfaction," chocolate panda, national georaphic pandas, panda tapestry, the panda dress, animal collective panda, that song 'panda, panda, panda' by deerhoof. I ALSO ENJOY:the month of October, baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, record collecting, reading, modern dance, ballet, writing, drawing, photography, watercolor and acrylic painting, tutoring english as a second language for chinese students, foreign films, documentaries, working at a bookstore, working at a record store (before it closed), recording, singing, writing and recording with the glowfriends, school, running/jogging, making things out of trash, paper, tearing apart vintage dresses and skirts and making my own designs, babysitting, long distance phone calls, spending time with friends and family, travelling......i can't stand to sit in one place for very long. it's a terrible feeling. computers make my eyes hurt and internet is mostly trash and a waste of time. movies and tv are only a little better when i can watch someone else's reaction to what is on the screen. sitting alone in front of a lighted box and hearing your own laughter echo in an empty room is bullocks, it's the worst waste! i say forget it--make something out of paper, finger paint--anything instead of that!
Other like minded Xiong Mao for refreshing coffee drink.

It's such a huge part of my life and I'm by far much more of a fan than critic. I've been very fortunate that my young ears were able to devour an exceptional amount of music thanks to my musican/guitar teacher, independent record lable owning father. I am exceedingly grateful, although my housemates certainly could do without the record-related clutter. Forget i-pods--audiophiles of the world unite!
Lost In Translation, everything about that movie is perfection, not to mention the inclusion of those Kevin Sheilds tracks and 'Just Like Honey.' The Virgin Suicides, Amelie, Masculin/Feminin, Jules et Jim, 400 Blows, Band of Outsiders, 2046, In The Mood for Love, Chung King Express, Talk to Her, Life is Beautiful, Memoirs of a Geisha, Everything is Illuminated, The Squid and the Whale, Little Miss Sunshine, The Shining, Dig, 24 Hour Party People, Empire Records, High Fidelity, Annie Hall, This is Spinal Tap, Edward Scissorhands. Obvious 8O's guilty pleasures: 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Say Anything, etc. Luna 'TELL ME DO YOU MISS ME.' Have you seen that Galaxie 500 dvd that came out, 'Don't Let Our Youth Go To Waste, 1987-1991?' Those early shows...gosh, they are so young and adorable--Dean in his white pants! Oh, it's great. I need hours of meandering, droney stuff like this that I can fall asleep half-hanging off the couch to.
I was pretty religious about 'The Alternative' on VH1 classic, untill they started showing re-runs. When I was a kid my brother and I had rows of tapes of '120 minutes' starting from 1991, when I was 11 years old. We even cut the commercials out. I just don't have much patience for TV shows, although I do like 'Biography' and recently all eight episodes of 'Pushing Dasies' which David Saganick has burned to DVD for me. Brilliant.
'The Glass Castle' by Jeanette Walls. 'The Lady and The Panda,' 'Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Authorised Biograpy,' by Mark Paytress, "Mix Tape: The Art of Cassette Culture,' by Thurston Moore, 'Our Band Could Be Your Life: Scenes From The American Indie Underground 1981-1991' by Michael Azerrad, particularly the Diosaur jr. chapter with the part about Murph licking cookie monster eyeball. 'The Great Indie Discography' M.C Strong (it's huge!), 'All We Are Saying, The Last Major Interview With John Lennon and Yoko Ono' by David Sheff, and I like that 33 and 1/3 series, just read that one 'Meat is Murder' by Joe Pernice of the Pernice Brothers (and Chappaquidick Skyline, Big Tobacco, Scud Mountain Boys) that guy is crazy prolific! I love to read childrens books out loud, particularly Dr. Suess, and I've read a LOT of them since I babysitt so much. I like Jeffrey Eugenides, Amy Tan, Sylvia Plath, Milan Kundera, Rainer Maria Rilke, and J.D. Salinger, among many others. (Someday i'd like to write a David Sedaris-esq memoir of growing up in the notoriously noisy and chaotic Morris household.)
I love Morris family. Women who fascinate/interest me: Sophia Coppola, Francoise Hardy, France Gall, Elizabeth Fraiser, Judy Garland, Edith Piaf, Mary Quant, Penelope Tree, Naomi Yang, Yoko Ono, Gong Li, Ruth Harkness, Maria Callas, Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Audrey Tatou, my great aunt, jazz singer/pianist, Audrey Morris.
