as far as plays go, my faves are The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, and Macbeth by Shakespeare. and i haven't read very many of these yet, but here's my list of fave mangas so far: Mars, Ceres: Celestial Legend, Fruits Basket, Fushigi Yugi, Chobits, Princess Ai, Model, Hana Kimi, Sensual Phrase, Vampire Game, Snow Drop, and Angel Sanctuary.
