About Me
Uptown Dot, The Bul Dot, V-Dot, DO, Uptown, or just DOT (the kid has a lot of names) is an up and coming emcee. He's just what the world of Hip-Hop has been waiting for. Classifying himself as a breath of fresh air, his goal is to take us back, so we can remember why we fell in love with Hip Hop in the first place.Dots mission is to take us back to the late 80s and early 90s. This era produced great artists who created great music for all to consume.Dots story is not your stereotypical story of the trials and tribulations to escape the hood. The Philadelphia born and raised emcee had his share of illegal activity, but quickly dismissed that as his future. Falling in love with music at the age of 3, Dot grew older and he dabbled with the art of MCing.Believing that a career of a full time rapper wasnt for him, he decided to only spit bars as a hobby. Pressured by family and friends to take Hip-Hop seriously, Dot continuously fell back from the art and decided to get his hustle on....legally. Although adamant against becoming a rapper, his love for the music and the art, couldnt keep him away. Whenever he had free time, Dot would create vivid and intricate rhymes to spit to whom ever would listen. To the delight of those that would listen, Dot began to gain the confidence needed to begin taking rap seriously. As the game became more mainstream, the product began to lack substance. This led Dot to wonder where the future of Hip Hop was going. This question led Dot to decide he was where the future of Hip Hop was going. With a dislike for pop songs, catchy hooks, and watered down verses, Dot wants to take it back to substance driven songs, concepts to make you think, and just simply having fun.Dot grew up listening to Big Daddy Kane, Redman, Kool G Rap, Mobb Deep, and Black Moon....just to name a few. Most of his influence comes from Nas, Jay-Z, and the late great Christopher Wallace, The Notorious B.I.G. as you can hear in his songs. His decision to step into the game comes at a time when we need to be reminded of what real Hip Hop is. Through his lyrics, unique style, and mic presence, he hopes to bring us back to the essence; and the game to a new Old Era for future generations to come.
