In Loving Memory of Maine and Mil

About Me

Headed by West Philadelphia's own, Omega, this Hip Hop movement was established and named in memory of two of his closest friends, Jermaine James Fluellen (9/20/77-5/20/02) and Jamil Lamon Fluellen-White (6/1/79-5/11/02). Sadly, tragedy struck as Omega's long time homie and rap partner, Jamil, became a victim of inner city violence on May 20, 2002. In an odd twist of events, just one night following his younger brother Jamil's funeral, Omega's other long time homie, Jermaine, also became a victim of inner city violence. Rather than continuing to mourn the loss of two brothers, who have passed away under two totally different circumstances, Omega took it upon himself to celebrate the lives of his comrades through way of music.
Omega was born in 1975 and ever since hearing his father's Kurtis Blow 45 single, "The Breaks", he immediately fell in love with with the Hip Hop artform. Writing rhymes since age 10, Omega became heavily interested in the music behind the lyrics. Without any sequencing or sampling equipment available, Omega started sampling music and breakbeats through way of a two tapedeck tape recorder. His "Hip Hop dubbing" technique would only be the beginning of what would later become a lifelong passion.
