Band Members: That would be Santero.
Influences: Where to start? How about the beginning. We'll ignore the formative "record the pop charts on to a cassette" years. Used to love all that late 80s Depeche Mode, New Order type stuff, and then one day big bro Dan came back from a summer working in NYC with a load of tapes of Public Enemy, Ice T, NWA, Tribe Called Quest. Then he came back from Manchester with LFO, Josh Wink, 808 State, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays. I absorbed a load of this music, then turned 13 and instantly became obsessed with angsty punk like Husker Du, tortured poetry like The Smiths, as well as more fun stuff like Pixies. After discovering the joys of clubbing, and all its accompanying facets, I ditched my guitars, and bought decks with the proceeds, initially focusing on Drum & Bass, mainly people like Zinc, Roni Size, Doc Scott, you know the sort of stuff. But then I found Q-Bert. And he led me to the other Piklz, and then Craze came along, and suddenly i was a (pretty average) scratch DJ, playing mainly hip hop. This went on for some time, until I realised that now I am a (pretty damn good) scratch DJ playing mainly fucked up weird dance music, heavily influenced by the likes of Spank Rock, Diplo, Switch, and so on.
Sounds Like: This is a tricky one - I've always moved a lot between genres when I DJ, and I guess the easiest comparison is someone like Diplo - basically plays dance music, but with a real hip hop approach to his DJing style and selection. My sets, when given carte blanche, encompass everything from classic house to dubstep, bonkers nihilist techno to JB's funk. If its good, I'm happy to play it when the mood takes me, and I think the crowd will like it.
