Born into a musical family he began playing drums from the age of five. His father played the drums as a teenager in New York and his mother played piano and was a vocalist and a music director for her church. As a child Anthony would sit by his mother's side as she played piano at Church and he absorbed a whole world of music in the early years in church. At the age of 10 his mother signed him up for drum lessons with Tony Hall who was in the U.S. Army and was stationed at the Fort Ord Army base in Monterey, California. Mr Hall taught Anthony some of the most valuable lessons that he uses to this day in music and in life. Anthony does not believe that there is only one type of instrument that magically make you play better. He was taught that it's the person behind the equipment and his or her ability to adapt that makes the difference in the performace. With this philosophy Anthony applied that to his life as well as his taste in music.
At the age of 19 Anthony dedicated himself to music full time having toured and recorded for more then 21 years with some time teaching and taking lessons with various professionals in between down time including Freddie Grubber, William Kennedy, Larry Bright,Brazilian Drummer Douglas Las Casas and others he has listen to. Anthony endorses Bauer Drums for five years, Aquarian Drum Heads 12 years, Axis Pedals 10 years, Zildjian Cymbals and Drum Sticks 13 years. Anthony King has a signature snare produced by Bauer Percussion Brazil and they are in talks with a U.S. Distributor to make the drums availible here in the U.S. Anthony has Has won various awards over the years and has toured for both the Motown and Poly Gram records with former Prince vocalist Rosie Gaines. The Anthony King Band tours once a year in Brazil and plans to have a live recording from Brazil in the near future.Em So Paulo, meninos carentes tiveram aula com uma estrela internacional da msica.
