MIRANDA FRIGON ACTING REEL
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!Yo, yo! Thanks for visiting! A little about me: Born and raised a good little catholic girl in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada ....yup...prairie girl. :) Dad is French, mom is Dutch and immigrated to Canada on a boat from Holland. (which I think is just so cool. :)My childhood/adolescence revolved around gymnastics and dancing. Both my parents were very athletic, Dad was a wrestler/boxer and my mom was a gymnastics coach, so she preeettty much had me training as soon as I could walk. :) Competed hard core until the age of about 14 at which point I had to choose between the two. Dancing it was. After 18yrs of training, I danced professionally for about 6, first with a ballet company and then onto another company with mixed styles (ballet/jazz/modern/hip hop). Ended up back doing gymnastics when I tried out for the varsity gymnastics team while attending the University of Alberta. Couldn't resist. :) I learned quickly that I was past my gymnastics prime which was probably around 12yrs old. The bod wasn't holdin up like it used to, buuuuut, I pushed through the back fractures, tendonitis, shin splints and broken fingers (that still haunt me now) so I could compete again. Eventually I left them both in the dust as my acting and music career surfaced. Now I train Muay Thai (thai kick boxing) and get kicked and punched in the head all the time. Much better for me I'm sure. ;) After a few years at the University of Alberta studying as a theatre major/psychology minor, I got a scholarship to an acting/dancing/music school in New York. Kind of a "Fame" type deal, I was singin & dancin and actin all the damn time. After the 1st semester, I ended up back in Canada recurring on a Disney series called "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids". Moved back to Canada to Vancouver, B.C. where I worked in film and tv for about 8yrs. After coming off an U.S. series (shot in Vancouver) called "Jake 2.0", I thought, it's about freakin time I got my bootie over that border where I could really make some noise. Applied for my 0-1 Visa, got it, and headed out to L.A. where I've been ever since! If ya wanna check out more details on my Film and Television career you can visit my website at www.mirandaf.com and you can also view my acting reel above.------------------------------------------------------
--------As for the music, I studied Royal conservatory Piano since I was little buuut none of my teachers seemed to like working with me too much cuz I was more interested in listening to them play the classical peice (I was to play in my exam) once through while my brain immediately memorized it. I would then play the song, by ear, copying whatever they played, only I would add in extra notes wherever I thought necessary to make the song sound better. They couldn't understand the reason for the extra notes if I was reading the music right in front of me. Most of them never figured out that I couldn't actually read music, or more or less just refused to... Mom finally realized that structure in music was noooot so much for me, and she put me into a composing class where I was ooohhhh SO MUCH happier! Moved around a lot so I never had a piano to take with me, but while attending school in NY I got super lonely, so my aunt sent me an old classical guitar that had been in the famliy for years. I started to teach myself how to play and that's when my songwriting really began. At this point I was living in Vancouver and had started writing a lot so I had a nice ittle collection of my own originals songs and a bunch of covers tunes. I wanted soooo bad to play for people ,so I would show up to any little cafe or restaurant that would have me so I could play live whenever and wherever I could. I'm surprised that I actually had fans that came to all my shows because I will now admit I was teeerrrrrible and my songs were pretty freakin lame. But you get no further unless ya start somewhere, right???. I guess when you love what you're doing and you play and sing from your heart, people will respond no matter what. :) I just hope there's no videotapes of my early cafe days floating around out there.:) So here I am now, present day, rockin out in L.A. I have two music projects: my solo rock project (just me!) and my alternative rock band "Temple of Mir" (me and Eddie Bravo). The songs on my playlist are a mixture of both. Found a great band to play live with me on my solo project so we've been hittin L.A. by storm, giggin it up. Just finished recording my new track "Walk Away", and I'm back into the studio now with a bunch more hits a brewin :) ------------------------------------------------------------
---------The Temple of Mir demo and our two new music videos have been generating a lot of attention. My music partner Eddie Bravo (the bad ass Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend who writes the music while I write the lyrics :) and I are tryin to spend as much time in the studio as we can to get the album done. We hope to be playing live in the next 6 months or so. :) check out our "WAKE ME" and "RIDE THAT WAVE" music videos on the top of the page and you can visit our site at www.myspace.com/templeofmir ----------------------That pretty much covers my life at the moment. When I'm not rockin out you'll find me pretty much every single day of the week at the gym and at LEGENDS MMA in Hollywood where I train in Muay Thai and mixed martial arts, or I'm at home cookin up a storm in my kitchen!!Thanks for visiting!!Rock On.Miranda :)----------------------------------------------------------
