The word is spreading. Mouth to Mouth -- the incandescent San Francisco Bay Area rock quartet -- fuses the swagger and pop sensibility of classic rock and roll with the slashing energy of punk as the band carves out a path to stardom in the music industry.
Coming together in the summer of 2004 after stints in various other Bay Area ensembles, singer Jonny Scullion, lead guitarist Alex Lasner, and drummer Andrew Keating added Matt Montgomery to the line-up in early 2007. Together, they have dedicated themselves to reinforcing San Francisco’s legendary status as a wellspring of terrific and memorable rock groups.
A recent series of West Coast concerts, celebrating the release of Mouth to Mouth’s self-produced debut CD/DVD “My Fee Is Lust,†left audiences ecstatic and delirious. Guitar Player magazine praised “My Fee Is Lust†for its “cool guitar tones and exciting playing,†and singled out Alex as “a great young player, and a 6-string oasis in the wan modern rock world.â€
Since roaring through last year's South by Southwest music conference with a set that shook the rafters of a jam-packed Sixth Street nightclub, Mouth to Mouth is upping the ante with a new seven-song EP. The band is currently recording at Studio D in Sausalito, CA, and at Studio Noche in San Rafael, CA, with producer/engineer/musician David Simon-Baker who has worked with an eclectic roster of artists that ranges from Jack Johnson, The Juliana Theory, and The Mr. T Experience to E-40 and Too $hort to Huey Lewis, Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia. Aided by Simon-Baker, Mouth to Mouth is honing its blend of smart, soulfully melodic song writing; nimble guitar work; eloquent bass lines; monster drumming; and intense, magnetic vocals -- all fueled by pure rock 'n’ roll libido. The project includes songs that are already standouts in the band’s live repertoire, such as the thundering “Charlotte Light and Dark,†alongside new material.
Raised in Northern California's Marin County, the members of Mouth to Mouth have dedicated themselves to breathing fresh air into the rock scene -- locally and nationally. It’s what they were meant to do. It’s in their blood.
