Seems to me like I should list who I don't want to meet. I tend to dislike people who operate on a surface level only. I have a low-tolerance for people lacking passion and drive in life. Good conversation, honesty and loyalty means the world to me. I don't have time for drama, negativity, or people who front.Ultimately, I'm looking for someone who's real, someone who doesn't fuck around, and someone who can throw down a good game of bones.
Oh lordy, really too much to list here. As of late, I've just been rocking internet radio since I'm sick of my mp3's. Soma FM is my friend. Anyway, here's some of my favs organized by genre, kind of:
Electronica:
Mark Farina, Doc Martin, Daft Punk, Danny Tenaglia, Amon Tobin, Tosca, Kraftwerk, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Waldeck, Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Massive Attack, Portisehead, Underworld, Lovage, Royksopp, Thievery Corp, Boards of Canada, Scissor Sisters, DJ Shadow
Hip Hop:
J5 / Cut Chemist, J-Live, AIM, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Q-Tip, ATCQ, Herbaliser, Nightmares on Wax, De La Soul, Afrika Bambaataa
Industrial / Rock / Goth:
Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Pigface, Revolting Cocks, TKK, Love & Rockets, Faith No More, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Depeche Mode, The Cure
Bitch Music:
Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Lamb, Esthero, Bjork
Classic / Blues / Jazz / Funk:
Doors, Beatles, Floyd, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Jamiroquai, disco
80's and Random:
Prince, MJ, The Police, Bowie, The Cocteau Twins, The Smiths, George Michael, The B-52's, all 80's.
Hackers, Velvet Goldmine, A Clockwork Orange (anything Kubrick, I also can't get enough of Full Metal Jacket), Say Anything, Grosse Point Blank (pepople don't get the humor in that movie), Lord of The Rings, Leon, Anime in general, Boondock Saints, anything directed by Luc Besson and I'm really into documentaries: Ring of Fire, Blue Planet, anything narrated by David Attenborough.
6 Feet Under (why did it have to end?!), Sex In The City, Star Trek: TNG, America's Next Top Model (a very guilty pleasure), Inuyasha, Family Guy, Good Eats, Wild Discovery, Music Choice (specifically the Sounds of the Seasons channel when it's not a holiday) anything TLC, DSC, HIS, or anything that I can actually learn from, A&E Biography and of course Antiques Roadshow.
The Fountainhead, The Hacker Crackdown, The Aquatic Ape Hypothesis, The Illustrated Man, The Stranger, The Trial. My shelves are filled with books I've only started to read, it's a shame I can't organize my time better to finish them. Things like Ray Kurzweil's The Age of Spritural Machines, Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel, and Conversations With God has me staring at it's cover before I sleep at night. Basically, I like anything that's non-fiction, I need to learn if I'm going to read. If it IS fiction, is has to be Sci-Fi/Fantasy or philosophical in nature.
Never been a heroes kind of person. I get motivation and inspiration from music and my surroundings, and from myself. I'm an only child so I've always been taught to be independent and that life is what you make it. I guess there's no one person that I really look up to, I see admirable qualities in all types of people. I just try to learn from them and do the best that I can.
