What's life to live if we can't make a mess of it?

About Me

With a book of songs in his satchel and guitar on his back, a strapping balladeer drifts into the hotel saloon looking to sing for his supper. In the corner sits the cool-handed innkeeper, leaned back on his chair coaxing the blues out of an old electric guitar. A banjo pluckin' minstrel wanders down from the mountains; he and the balladeer earn their keep by playing songs with the innkeeper to hearten the scruffy longshoremen whod fill the barstools night after night. Other folks play along for a time before rambling on, but the three remain. When a pirates runaway daughter washes up on the docks with a magic harp and nowhere to go, the band becomes four. With his comrades, the young balladeer continues to raise his songs ever stronger atop the din of clinking glasses and drunken brawls.
The Ten Commandments are pleased to announce the completion of a beautiful 7" picture disc featuring two of our favorite songs, and artwork by our friends Luke Ramsey and Jonny P. If you'd like one, send us a message or pick one up at our next show!
Our humble thanks to Seeing Eye Records.

Music:

Band Members: David Lewkowich: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Steve Guy: Electric Guitar
Janice Kerfoot: Autoharp, Recorder, Melodica
Ithimar Silver: Banjo, Harmonica

...and now, with Josh on the drums and Ryan on the electric bass, we've got ourselves a nice little rhythm section.
Influences: dusty songbooks, Nick Cave, Fairport Convention, whiskey and lager, stories well spun, The Swans, Bertolt Brecht, the gold rush, Dead Can Dance, brotherhood, revelry, Thundercats, lazy Sunday afternoons, Jay Munly, Robert Service, David's dogs, forts, friendship.
Sounds Like: Songster David Lewkowich and his latest, greatest rabble of players have cultivated a sound as spirited and enchanting as it is dark and sorrowful. What The Ten Commandments sing is a prophecy; one that speaks both of the past and to the future, as well as to truths that exist deep within our hearts.
