Dearest friends of the Mandatory Moustache,
After being away for the past few months, I'm very happy to finally be back in Montreal and organizing shows again. It's with great pleasure that I announce that as of February 1st, 2007, I'm officially teaming up with Brian & Meyer at Blue Skies Turn Black . These are two individuals who I've collaborated with a great deal in the past years and for whom I have the utmost respect. Together, we will continue to operate under the BSTB banner, hence, I am putting the Mandatory Moustache name to rest. 2007 promises to be an unprecedented and exciting year!!
To start things off: our first show of 2007 is tomorrow night @ Friendship Cove, featuring a rare performance from AIDS WOLF, back from 2 months on tour in Europe. This will be their final show with their beloved guitarist and friend Chris Taylor (aka Barbarian Destroyer). It'll be a long while before AIDS Wolf performs in Montreal again. Joining them are local psych rock masters PANOPTICON EYELIDS and young up-and-coming freakout ensemble GHOST LIMBS. Doors are at 8:30 pm SHARP and space is limited.
Also coming up this Saturday @ Main Hall, we've got NYC's THE OXFORD COLLAPSE performing alongside ROCK PLAZA CENTRAL from Toronto and local psych crooner THE WILL AUSTIN ESCAPE. Then, the following weekend, we've got the first of two kick-ass back to back rock shows. Thursday, February 1st @ Zoobizarre, Vancouver boogie southern-rock band PRIDE TIGER will perform and from what I've heard: these guys are awesome.. They've just recently done some dates with Montreal badasses PRIESTESS and so I've got first-hand accounts. Joining them are QC indie sensation LESBO VROUVEN.
Finally, in keeping with fine MM tradition, I've decided to put together, on Friday February 2nd @ la Sala Rossa, an insane all-local pay-what-you-can blowout (a welcome back party, of sorts)! This night is going to be sick, with local heavyweights CPC GANGBANGS and THE HOT SPRINGS, alongside the amazing and grossly-underappreciated THUNDRAH and those new kids on the heavy-ass psych rock block CROWFACE.
