Michael Boogie Pinckney, a New York-based writer and director with over ten years of film production experience is currently working on his feature film debut, Youre Nobody till somebody kills you. This thriller, set in the perilous world of the Hip Hop industry, is a timely tale that has attracted Spike Lee, who recently signed on to be Executive Producer.
Pinckney began his career working as a production assistant on films like Malcolm X, Blade, and Clockers before moving on to become an assistant director on films such as Summer of Sam, Bamboozled, 25th Hour, The Best Man, Hard Luck, She Hate Me and The Inside Man The new Spike Lee film staring Denzel Washington and Jodie Forster. He also recently completed touring the film festival circuit, (Urbanworld, Hollywood Black Film Festival, Hip Hop Film Festival) with Black Noise, the third installment in his short film series, Shoot Firstask questions later, which is now being sold on DVD. The other titles in the series include, The Ex Factor, The Description and The Candy Store--all produced by Pinckneys production company Blackfoot Films.
With experience alongside directors like Lee, Penny Marshall, Bill Duke and Levar Burton, Pinckney is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the independent film universe. Pinckney graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase with a degree in Sociology and Film and Theatre Arts.
