Lotus was formed in 2002 by Bishop Miles (Bassist, Backup Vocals) and Dave Alvarez (Lead Singer). The original members were Dave, Bishop, Paul Lopez (Drums) and Cully New (Lead Guitar). This project was put together for the full intention of having fun doing what we love to do. These members played together for about a year. Then, Paul had to leave the band for personal reasons. Lotus was called by one of the best drummers in West Texas, Tony Diamond. Lotus played a few months with this lineup. Then, Bishop and Dave felt that they were no longer fun and they should scratch the project until they found the right guys that would take things a little more serious. After holding several auditions, Ray Sosa (Lead Guitar, Backup Vocals) and Matt Glass(Guitar, Backup Vocals) joined Lotus the fall of 2003. Lotus stayed with this lineup for about 2 years. From here, Lotus went through a lot of changes in 2006. First, Lotus added James Morgan(Lead Guitar) and Tim LeMoine(Guitar) both formerly of Chrome Molly. That lineup lasted about two weeks. Then, Ray Sosa rejoined the band. Lotus was contemplating whether to go with a 4 piece or find another guitar player to make it a five piece again. Lotus left the decision up to Ray. Ray felt he was a good enough guitar player to be able to go with a four piece. He was right. We have been rocking as a four piece ever since. In late 2006, Tony Diamond decided he would retire as Lotus's drummer. His decision was based on personal reasons. Sammy formerly of Makeshift has recently joined Lotus fulltime. Sammy has been Lotus's backup drummer for a few months. Sammy is a great addition to the Lotus lineupIf you have not experienced Lotus Live, you are truly missing a great rock show that is shure to kick you in the ass!
