I think that my favorite book is "Walter Benjamin: Story of a Freindship" Gershem Scholem, Walter Benjemin, Lucaks, Roland Barthes, Franz Kafka, Satre(I feel like a tool writing this, but I recently read a book by him on Anti-Semetism which I thought was really smart) James Joyce(I like "portraite", anyone who says that they liked reading Ullyses is lying or psychotic. I don't believe that it was written to be read, but rather to push the bounderies of the art form), Vladamir Nabakov, Cornel West, Hilary Putnam, Paul Riccour, Sigmound Freud(no one ever reads him, but everyone thinks they are an authority) , Ludwig Wittgenstien, Franz Fannon, Wilfred Bion, Harry Stack Sullivan, V.S. Nipal,Judith Butler, Sir Arthur Canon Doyal, Donald W. Winnicott, John Bowlby, Martha Nussbaum, Amertya Sen, DeadXStop Fanzine, assorted chess books. I'm currently reading "Archive Feaver" by Derrida, and it just jumped to my top ten list. Anyone want to talk about it? These are some of my favorite authors and thinkers. Truth is, I read a lot, and I really like talking to people about what they read. Though I'm a grad student in psychology, I'm real unimpressed with the liturature coming out of my field, so I mostly read other stuff.
Rabbi Akiva. The defining event of both Christianity and Judaism was the destruction of the Temple. Jesus dealt with this event by creating a really boring apocolyptic cult, Rabbi Akiva dealt with this event by creating more occations to hang out at your parents house and have your mom cook for you.
