BWP

BWP (Brothers With Potential) begin in summer 1995. At the age of 15, Armani started the group after he found out his best-friend, Brandon could sing very well! The two begin to practice on songs together, and sang at Armani's uncle's wedding reception. At the wedding, a friend of Armani's from school, Mike D. was singing Always and Forever. After the wedding, he talked to Mike D. and the Bride's son, Anthony, who was also a good friend of his about starting a group! They sang two songs together at the reception (Before I Let You Go (by Blackstreet) & If I Ever Fall in Love (by Shai). Anthony didn't want to be apart of the group because he said he couldn't sing that well, but that he would do all the music for the group since he was a phenomenol piano player. The guys were 14 & 15 yrs. old at this time!About a week later, while playing basketball at a neighborhood friend's house, Mike D., Brandon, Armani, and Mike D's singing partner Rafael, all talked about starting a group! They all agreed to meet and practice the next couple of days! Once they met it was instant HARMONY! Brandon - 1st tenor, Mike D. - 2nd Tenor, Rafael - 2nd tenor & Baritone, Armani - Bass. They were said to have practiced sometimes 11 - 12 hours a day! They were preparing for a Showtime at the Apollo - Texarkana Style to be held on July 2, 1995. The Headliner of the show was Roger & Zap! Well, everything was going very well! The guys had chosen a very difficult song for their voices at that time. The song was Yesterday by Boyz II Men. This was an Accapella song, and after about 3 weeks of daily practice, the guys had finally mastered it! Then, Rafael had to move to Alaska to go and live with his father. The guys had to find a new member within this 1 week period to replace Rafael. Because Rafael had such a trained voice this was a very hard task.Well, they didn't find someone as good as him, but they did find someone that was good enough. Mike D.'s 1st cousin, Kevin. The group, continued to practice everyday, and got a new song to sing. The song they chose was Fire (by Subway). Rafael, helped Kevin get up to speed. The show was absolutely Fabolous! BWP one the Showtime at the Appollo Texarkana Stlye! Roger Troutman told a friend of Brandon's mother that once those guys get with the right people they are going very far! The rest is history! Later that year in the Fall of 1995, they got a new member that has been with the group since that time! That would be Jacobi. Mike D. brought Jacobi to the group! Jacobi being a little shy had a little trouble at the beginning, but soon became very comfortable performing all over the US.Since that time BWP has had the opportunity to perfom for such group's as Profyle, who gave them a shout out on POWER 92 Little Rock, AR. Profyle said, "We want to give a shout out to BWP. Those guys are really good!" This was after BWP had sang one of Profyle's songs to them live in Shreveport, LA.
