About Me

I recently discovered that I was actually a circus freak in tech monkeys clothing. I've fallen in love with the fire artist groups of the world and the beautiful artistry they create with flaming objects. I have come across some extremely extraordinary folk in the short time that I have been exploring these arts (8 months as of May), and I hope to continue the trend. The fire spinning community at large is one of the most open, sharing and supportive I've come across; a massive extended family. Some vids of my spinning:

Currently I mainly spin poi, as you can see above. I'm learning staff and juggling. I also play with meteors (kinda like poi with one long string attaching the heads) and diabolo (chinese yo-yo) occasionally. At this point in time my arms and back of the neck are pretty bruised up from learning contact staff (manipulating the staff without actually grabbing it), it's quite fun but I have a helluva knot at the base of my neck from repeated impact. I spin during breaks at work, out in the parking lot. I'm sure it's much to the amusement (and sometimes shock) of my co-workers, as they watch me smack myself upside the head with one spinning implement or another, over and over again :P.
Eventually I hope to perform, but for now I just play.

Fire, fire dancing, poi, staff, juggling, meteor, diabolo, spinning things, twirling things, manipulating objects, stilt walking, performance, traditional drums, drawing, writing, creating

I'd like to meet:

Fire and circus freaks and performers all. Folk of an open mind, who like to chill more than hard party (but who still love a good party). A redheaded gal that speaks in a Scottish, Welsh or Irish accent *swoon* :D.

Labrynth, Dark Crystal, Mirrormask, Trainspotting, Pi, anything by Studio Ghibli, Lain, Vampire Princes Miyu, LOTR trilogy, Matrix series, Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs, The Princess Bride, Big Fish, Pirates of the Caribbean I, and probably more that I can't remember.

I happily accept movie recommendations, I like off-the-wall flicks.

Television:

If I watch it, it will either be one of the Discovery channel networks or Nick toons..

Books:

Sadly, I've never seemed to have enough time to read for enjoyment. Usually tech books or manuals for something or another..
