BLUE RAINCOAT

"We Swim Like Hell"

About Me

Blue Raincoat was set up in spring 1997 in Wolow, south-west Poland. The ones who did it were Tomek Sztrekier (Sztrex) bass guitar, Marcin Loks (Lokis) guitar and some vocals and Lukasz Wnuk (Unio). Soon Krzysztof Stelmarczyk (Broda) joined them and took over singing and writing the lyrics as well. The boys spent the following three years making music and giving gigs along with such bands as Happy Pills, Partia, Ssaki. In 1998 they recorded their first demo-stuff... In 2000 they got a new guitarist, Karol Krochmal, who after releasing the first cassette of Blue Raincoat (Fast At The Beginning And Then Real Slow - 2000) left the band. The cassette included ten songs. It sold really fast and got some nice reviews. Fast At The, released by a small label Every Color Production contained a surprising mixture of nice-tune and sad sounds, along with harsh guitars, raw emo-rock and a slightly-out-of-tune vocals sending an interesting message. Soon after the release Blue Raincoat stopped playing concerts and had a short break. In autumn 2002 a new drummer joined the band, Krystian Pilarczyk (Pilara), also known froim bands like Saturnday or Kill Your TV. Thanks to that the band got down to really hard work, gave some gigs (a short tour with German Sometree) and in June 2003, in a Wroclaw-located recording studio Tuba, recorded their second album Small Town Addiction.
The second full-length release by Blue Raincoat sophisticated and clear music, full of melodies, emotion, sadness and melancholy. On the other hand passionate and energetic. The album was mastered by Jack Endino, the guitarist of Skin Yard, a legendary producer who co-operated with such bands as Nirvana (Bleach), Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Therapy?, Rein Sanction and Afghan Whigs. Blue Raincoat it the first Polish band to have its stuff mastered by Endino The album was released in the same year by Europeans Records. In April 2004 one of the songs (Planes And Skylines ) appeared on an album promoting new bands, released by Polish Radio Channel. Here's some good news for those looking forward to the release of 'Everything is a Piece of Something'. As long as we don't get hit by a lightening or sth, the album will be available from the January 15. AND WE DIDN'T GET HIT!! It is available, it does sound really good and tastes even better.
