About Me

Spent two weeks in the fall of '89 as the youngest Intercontinental Champion in AWA history under the moniker "Captain Happen'n" before an ingrown toe-nail and a nasty Anbesol addiction caused me to prematurely retire from the sport. Still well renowned in certain pockets of Appalachia for my grande stoic-tysonesque (yet strangely flamboyant) entrance at the 1992 Southern West Virginia Tough-man contest to the sounds of Nenah Cherry's rendition of the Marvin Gaye classic "Trouble Man". Was Mario Lopez' stunt-double in Episode 10 of Season 3 of Saved By The Bell; for which I earned eleven dollars (after taxes, SAG-dues, + dental were deducted).

My Interests

Performing Improv-Comedy, taking Melodica lessons, and mostly spending time with my beautiful wife and raising my three amazing and beautiful kids up "proper". And I love obscure references. Also enjoy seeking rare, out-of-print, or imported music. All things West Virginia University. To re-unite The Style Council and dance around with Dee C. Lee

I'd like to meet:

All things ADU-MATTHEWMAN-DENMAN-HALE. Most anything british (or otherwise imported) from the "video-era", seventies soul/funk music, dub. Anything and everything Stuart Matthewman and/or Marc Anthony Thompson have their hands on - man I could go on forever (on and on til the break adawn)- all over the map. To quote TSC, "My Ever Changing Moods". And, might I add, that nothing makes a good thing better like the vocal stylings of Ms. Vinia Mojica.

Movies:

Any Scene with Harry Dean Stanton, Jon Gries, or Gary Cole in it. Annie Hall. Woody Allen films. Polish Brothers movies - in particular Jackpot! Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (Badalamenti's score!)+ David Lynch - Lost In Translation, The Station Agent, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, The Big Lebowski, Dirty Pretty Things, Shaun Of The Dead (in the face of death would be the only time to toss a 12" Diamond Life LP), Dwight Yoakam in SlingBlade + Jon Gries in Napoleon Dynamite. Jim Jarmusch + Christopher Guest. Revenge of The Nerds! And hey, it's 2008 - can a brother not get The Whoopie Boys on DVD already!

Television:

Yes..as a matter of fact (not to brag), we have 2. Cash-Cab. My favorite commercials are the Twin Peaks Georgia Coffee ads and, of course, the Scratch Perry Guinness spots. 30-Rock (Yay Tina Fey) and Strangers With Candy (Yay Amy Sedaris). Newhart. Twin Peaks. Lost. Spongebob. Reaper. Flight of the Conchords.

Books:

Patient by Ben Watt. Assorted Music Magazines and CD Liner Notes (especially those of DJ Spooky: That Subliminal Kid). Roald Dahl + Shel Silverstein books with the girls.

Heroes:

Stan Gable. How does he balance being an All-American QB for Adams College Atoms, President of Greek Council, and still find time to occasionally tap Betty Childs ace...Impressive.
