About Me

Hey y'all!
I'm loving life here in New Orleans, having finally moved here from NE Alabama. I've got a great old apartment Uptown on Napoleon Ave., and I'm hoping to discover all that this fine city has to offer.

My Interests

I love the cinema (they don't call me a movie whore for nothing), visiting new places, digging through junk stores to find a diamond in the rough, collecting old jazz records (and I do mean vinyl), cooking for friends, curling up with a good book . . .

Socialist - You believe the free market can be
beneficial, but that a large and powerful
state is necessary to redistribute the wealth
of the top classes to those of the bottom.
You also think that basic utilities and
trasportation should be publicly owned. Your
historical role model is Eugene Debs.

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking to meet new people down here in old New Orleans. Really, I'm in to anyone who is passionate about their life and their interests. I don't have time to waste on flakes and assholes (already had my fill of them back in Alabama), but I want to meet people who can show me more of this lovely old city.
And Dr. Zoidberg!

"What, you want that I should dance for my dinner?"

Take the quiz:
Which vampire from the Vampire Chronicles By Anne Rice are you?

Louis de Pointe du Lac
You are Louis de Pointe du Lac. Louis was created by Lestat after he had lost all hope for life and existence and this attracted Lestat. Louis gave in to the choice, and under Lestat became a vampire. But Louis was quickly horrified by what he had become, and soon refused to slay humans, and rather, fed off animals or not at all. He is ravaged hopelessly by grief and sorrow, and always the quest for answers, and the fear that there may be none. He is a miserable vampire, but throughout his life, he finds moments of happiness. Mon Dieu, Louis! Will nothing make you smile?

Books:

I have an M.A. in English, so I guess it figure that I had 15 boxes of books to move down here.
Favorite Authors: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Virginia Woolf, William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, W. Somerset Maugham, E. M. Forster, Ayn Rand, Patricia Highsmith, Albert Camus, Michael Cunningham, George Orwell, Henry James, to name a few.The two best novels of all time (in my humble opinion): Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. The final three paragraphs of Gatsby constitute quite possibly the finest passage in American literature.
I love early 20th century American short fiction, Gothic novels, and most of the great novelists of the Modern period.
