About Me

------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

"The Jungle is an abstract blend of influences, defining themselves as progressive rock, inspired by funk. The style can be compared to a more monochromatic Mars Volta with some hints of U2. The sound is hard edged with loud instrumentals and softer, pop vocals. The sound is characteristic of much of the indie and progressive rock popular today, appealing to urban hipster types with a penchant for vocal effects. Liquid Jungle has the mass appeal of the Killers, with something of a radio friendly sound, though in keeping with their artistic integrity."

MUSIC AND ARTS 2008

"Despite little media recognition, prog rock is alive and well. Young, talented bands such as Atlanta's Liquid Jungle are as influenced by King Crimson's jagged attack as U2's grander arena-rock tendencies and, most importantly, have the chops to pull off that dynamic mix. Add some funk along with a sack of twisty riffs and quirky time changes for a head-spinning set that gets more intense as the evening unfolds.."

CREATIVE LOAFING 2008

"The band shifts flavors frequently while subordinating everything to an architecture that works brilliantly through its many permutations. 14 cuts occupy 70 long minutes and not a second is wasted, every measure fascinating. With so-called neoprog fading and groups like Ohm, Mars Volta, the aforementioned Izz, and other cutting edge players moving back in, talent and erudition re-enter the arena, and it's more than obvious Liquid Jungle has been woodshedding like crazy, honing up while getting down. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what made the greats great.."

FAME ALBUM REVIEW 2008

"The songs are genuine, intriguing and cover a lot of ground: there are shredding, fast guitar solos, and ambient, warm ones; there are wide-open, airy verses and choruses, and menacing, pounding ones; there are funk, jazz and hard-rock elements at work at all times."

CREATIVE LOAFING 2007

““We used to consider our sound more progressive but now we’re incredibly song based, very much into the craft of creating strong, listenable tracks of great energy and substance,” Josh said. Job well done … Liquid Jungle is well-rounded and unpretentious, and its music has a promising and all-inclusive feel. “

PERFECT PITCH REVIEW 2008

“Liquid Jungle (now referred to as The Jungle) does an impressing job in creating their first full-length album, Tiny Heaven, that amalgamates the elements of jazz, classic rock, funk, and ska. ……. The Jungle is bringing a new meaning to progressive rock through their talented music composition and through the talents of their members “

MUSIC-REVIEWER.COM 2008

"Every song was compositionally intriguing." "Liquid Jungle represents a pensive and insightful band, most poignantly understood by their sincere investment in the exploration of what music can achieve with or without any concept of categorization."

PERFORMER MAG 2007

“The first song they played really stormed out of the gate. These guys don't play around. It had a heavy funk sound with prog-rock elements and some close harmonies on the vocal. Subsequent songs were similarly angular and intense; the same goes for frontman, Josh Yoder. He's like some kind of exotic bird, hopping about onstage, slapping his bass around and bugging his eyes out. Guy can sing too. He's got a breathy tenor that's well-modulated and not too precious or overbearing.”

LIL HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------With the release of their first full length album "Tiny Heaven" in April of 2007, The Jungle (formerly known as Liquid Jungle) has clearly shown that they have something original to offer. As founding members of The Jungle, twin brothers Josh and Graham Yoder have inhabited the Atlanta rock scene with various ensembles since the age of sixteen. Since acquiring veteran Atlanta drummer Jason Monseur in 2003, and in 2005 multi-instrumentalist Zack Varner, a recent graduate of the Schwob School of Music, the quartet has been going strong.
With a flourishing Atlanta audience, The Jungle also delivers dynamic and compelling live shows to fast expanding crowds throughout the Southeast, and are quickly spreading their sound up the East Coast. Charismatic frontman Josh Yoder thumps a funky bass while also singing an engaging lead vocal. Graham Yoder's lead guitar guides the band through quirky riffs, serves as the gritty marrow during heavier episodes, and soars with elegant soul over the ensemble as a soloist. Zack Varner enhances the sonic palate with passionate organ playing, graceful piano work, sings colorful backup harmonies, will occasionally take the lead vocal and often drops his guitar to play a mean sax solo. Jason Monseur's drumming is tribal and thunderous, funky and progressive, and lends itself well to the band's heavier, more progressive qualities. He is also the perfect backbone for the more subtle and tuneful material. Sporadically during a set, songs will evolve into experimental and improvisational departures, but at the core of The Jungle lies imaginative, thoughtfully composed rock music. They may be abrasively intense one moment and ethereally haunting the next, but The Jungle has a style of its own and shows the ability to penetrate a wide variety of genres and audiences.
