About Me

Four friends (James, Nick, Tug, & Jeff) from way back during the Detroit hardcore/punk era in the 90's joined together to begin a new project that was more suited to the new lifestyles they all had in common. It was 10 years after the days of heavy music and a party lifestyle. Now with families and careers to maintain these guys still had a passion for music and a desire to be able to play the songs they created for their children. The Black Plaid Project recorded a few songs with a recording engineer named Ralph from SevenFX Studio. After about a month of working in the studio, writing and recording "people friendly feel good music" the band had a 6 song demo. The band starting handing out these songs to family, close friends and potential members. The band evolved a very original feel calling it a type of "funky modern southern grunge rock". We all realized very quickly that all of the members are all vitally important to the band and the style they have achieved. This has formed them into a tight knit group more like a family than a business. The entire band brings years and years of experience to the table as well as a desire to be challenged to create songs that can be enjoyed by children and old folk as well as anybody in between. The final lineup has agreed that this is no longer a "project", and so they have decided to call the band simply ...........
