Now you see me. Now you don't.

About Me

My real name is Andrea (Ann-dree-uh). It can actually be pronounced four different ways, and I have learned to respond to all four of them. I have also grown used to being called "Saundra" and "Audra" by semi-deaf (but well meaning) neighbors. :-P
People often tell me I act older than I am. An "old soul." I FEEL older than I am. 28 going on 40... or 50. I acidentally (but non-regretfully) became a mother early in life, giving birth to a beautiful girl at 20 and an amazing boy at 25. Now at 4 and 8 years of age, they're working hard at making my hair fall out. What else is to blame for all the hair in the drain? My son, Kelton, is on the autism spectrum with an official diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD).
He says, "car wash" a whole lot, and he asks to go to the car wash a million times a day--but otherwise, he's an incredible little boy and a tremendous blessing. His differences have taught me much more than I ever would've known with a "normal" child. My daughter, Elizabeth, is smart and stubborn. As I am 28 going on 40, she is 8 going on 16. She's got the teenage attitude down pat, but with all the heart and energy of a kid. The girl is luminous and works hard to make people happy. She is famous for being unwittingly hysterical, and she is a big help with her little brother, who loves her dearly. They're not bad goobers. :)
I have been in a wonderful committed relationship with my boyfriend, Kris, for roughly 5 years (though we've been dating for over 10), and we have plans to marry as soon as signing a piece of paper becomes a proposition sweeter than a $5000 check from the IRS. We know we're in love, and we know we're faithful to one another. A ring isn't going to make the relationship any more solid. Frankly, I think we're happier than many married couples we know. He's my soulmate--till death do we part (but I get to go first, ha!)
We own a house, have two cars in the driveway, and a (cute!) dog in the yard. From the outside, it looks dandy --and for the most part, it is. The only problem is that I suffer from depression and anxiety, and that can often put a real damper on things. I do not take medication, nor do I see a therapist. Been there, done that, READ the book. I manage to keep things in perspective and not let my monster get too out of hand. I have sought and found much support in groups and forums that I never found in therapy and drugs. Thank you for lifting me up, my dear friends. ♥
I LOVE EEYORE!!!!

My Interests

My profile is constantly changing to reflect my moods....

What interested me yesterday may bore me today. I'm fickle like that. Must cogitate.

Okay, yes.. here we go. Autism.

Though my son does not have full blown autism, he is on the spectrum, with many of the traits spoken of in this video.

This was posted on YouTube by "SilentMiaow," who has autism. She is super amazing.

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet somebody that will clean my house, watch my kids, groom my dog, and write me into their will. :)

What's that I hear? *Tilts head.* Friend requests pouring in?

Seriously? I want to meet people that are open minded and tolerant. I admire anyone who has strong convictions and beliefs, yet doesn't feel the need to push them--whether they be religion, politics, bozohood--whatever. Anyone who doesn't ostracize or belittle people for not thinking as they do is coo' in my book.

Yep, I like Type-O. No, I'm not Satanic, Gothic, Emo, or interested in the Devil. However, his voice has a rather seductive quality, and perhaps the lyrics appeal a wee bit to my dark side. Surprised?

White Oleander by Janet Fitch is my absolute favorite. I also have a fondness for most Oprah Book Club books. Additionally, the classic Charlotte's Web still holds a special place in my heart, and I will never, ever give up my Sweet Valley books. :)
