ALL OR NOTHING OR NOTHING AT ALL

About Me

MY NEW DO
MY NEW TOY
When did u first fall in love with hip hop? Tally Dangerous first did during a family visit to a relatives Brampton apartment. The song was Rock It, it was the mid 80s and Mr. Dangerous was the ripe age of 6. A series of attempted head spins, helicopters, worms, moonwalks, shuffles, pops, locks and robots later, and Tally was as good as hooked. From then on, getting together was no longer about getting excited to play with the Bounty Hunter, Perfection, the 2600 borrowed from a downstairs neighbour or the Rambo knife it was about the music.
The eighties brought everything from hair metal to retro to the spread of hip hop. Whether copying MC Hammers American Music Award performance to perfection or imitating Jam Master J on a single belt drive Akai HiFi with an Earth, Wind and Fire 12, the music kept flowing. Even at this early age, Tally was getting slack for listening to other music. His first fight brew from his promotion of Pour Some Sugar On Me to his friends. Rather than conform, he kept doing his own thing. His first role as selectah was during Jump Rope for Heart in Grade 5. It was all about Pop Goes the World, Gonna Make You Sweat, and It Takes Two.
It was the mid 90s and it was the Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang, it was Nas, it was Big, Puff and Mase, it was the Fugees, Tribe and Busta, it was Footsteps and Faluma, it was Beenie Man and Capleton. It was a musical explosion. It was time. Tally bought his first vinyl in 1998, Definition by BlackStar. Working with the same Akai HiFi and his boys Hitachi HiFi, the mixing began. Tally started doing club gigs soon after in 2000. His first year-round residency was at the UofT Pub, The HangaR, and later, NV Nightclub. As time went on, regular monthly events started to flow. In late 2004, Tally also began dabbling in music production.
Now. Its 2005, and Tally is peaking. He plays what he feels. He plays what he wants. It is his flow. It is hip hop. It is r&b. It is reggae. It is soca. It is retro. It is house. It is unique. There are no sets. There is no planning. There is no sampling. There are no CDs. It is pure. It is two turntables and a mixer. It is real. Get involved.
