Grenville Dodge is Edinburgh's newest and most brutal addition to the UK metal scene. Originally formed as "Sandblasted", a Pantera Tribute in March 2004, we decided it was time to create our own sound. We are of course still in the process of writing material and creating a setlist, so at the moment we have no great recordings to offer, but the samples above recorded from a recent rehearsal (Through a basic Digital camcorder) are available to check out. But please check back as hopefully in the coming months we shall release our first proper demo. This should be achieved by sometime at the end of this summer.
Our aim is originality - To bring something fresh to a scene which needs it. Our hope is to see everyone just going nuts to what we supply.
The major influences which drive the musical direction of GD are varied. We take what is inspiring from the bands we like and mix them together to form new ideas. We don't like to repeat riffs, steal or immitate to pass as our own. It's a hard task to write good, intelligent, original songs which don't crossover into the generic and cliche. We realise this 100% - This challenge is being met. We have some incredibly exciting ideas which when brought on stage will be something brutal, and very heavy.
Bands which we like the sound of and gain alot of influence from are Pantera, Meshuggah & Chimaira. Our sound reflects these styles, but on a different level. Of course there are hundreds of other bands we admire musically - But in all honesty these 3 are the major bands which seem to shape the direction in which we head.
Grenville Dodge is a name you should remember. For as he did, we're laying down a new track. One which is going to be around for a long time
