Formed in January 2002 by Germ and Kaiser Bock in Dorset, Southern England, Tracer began their musical journey by combining harsh industrial electronics with the more traditional instrumentation of electric bass and guitar. Quickly enlisting the enigmatic Katykitten (ex Dvilution and Icini) for bass guitar duties, they played their first gig supporting Cauda Pavonis at Bournemouths Blackmachine night, and further shows alongside bands like Killing Miranda, Noisex, The Sepia, Katscan, Inertia, Mesh and The Crüxshadows have seen them go from strength to strength.September 2003 saw them release their debut 12-track CD entitled Analyse and Interpret through Resurrection Records UK (contact
[email protected]), reviews of which follow here:SIDELINE MAGAZINE January 2004:
Its a good thing you cant compare their bombastic body
sound to any other band. Tracer for sure seems to avoid walking
on body clichés and this debut announces some perspectives for the future! DPMELTDOWN MAGAZINE Winter 2003:
They combine elements of pounding industrial with electro
which results in a dancefloor-friendly fusion.KALEIDOSCOPE MAGAZINE
Summer Edition 2004:
An electro-industrial melange of thumping drums and melodic
synthesisers and vocal harmonies reminiscent of Assemblage 23,

The 12 tracks sound absolutely independent and Tracer are going
their own diversified way regarding their first work.Whilst in the beginning, their music had well balanced ingredients of fresh EBM and Electronica, with a dash of Power Noise, Tracers sound has become much harder, introducing a more metal element to the electronic proceedings. With the departure of Katykitten in February 2006, both GerM and Kaiser Bock have opted to produce a darker, heavier sound (imagine Hocico in a bare-knuckle fight with Godflesh!) and are shortly to unveil this new approach in their upcoming gigs. When time (and finances!) allow, the will undoubtedly release their second full-length CD proper, with a possible EP release prior to that.Just recently, Tracer have covered the Depeche Mode track 'Now This Is Fun' for a new Depeche Mode covers album released on Cryonica this Summer.
Entitled 'Bright Lights, Dark Room' this double CD is a collection of the best Depeche Mode B-sides from the early days right up to the present day.Release date 23rd July 2006
