Elliott's musical career started at an early age with his parents fostering his various musical interests. He was enrolled in a multitude of music endeavors such as, classical and jazz piano lessons, world class children's choirs, and chorus and solo roles in operas and musicals. This set the foundation for what was to come! Elliott's first foray into the world of electronic music began at the age of seventeen in 1997 when he attended his first rave event. By 1998 he had already co-promoted two highly successful rave events in Toronto, Canada: “DIY-NYE” and then later “DIY-SPRING ROLL” (1999). Within seven months of his first gig, Elliott ( DJ Hujib ) was playing regularly at many events in Toronto, London, Windsor, Montreal and other cities across Canada and the US. With the DJing work underway, music production followed suit with the creation of Hyperstomp Studios in Toronto, Canada. Predominately writing UK hardcore for various labels, Elliott established himself in a short time as a leading force in the International hardcore scene.
As always, wanting to further broaden his creative scope Elliott seized the opportunity when approached by Donal in 2002. Donal wished to establish a live electronic dance act and realised that a communion of talents was key for the project. Donal's past has also been steeped in music ever since the age of 7 when he started to learn classical piano. Moving onto the guitar at age 13, he was soon playing in bands and playing live shows. After a short time he started playing with some school mates and this was the line up until Orchid split up 5 years later in 1998. Orchid received a lot of attention in the local music scene where they played regularly, both headlining and playing support to larger Irish outfits at the time such as The Sultans and Revelino. They also released a song on a compilation CD of university bands at the time and released their own EP in 1998 entitled Dihcro-Medicine. The band then took a hiatus due to studies and never managed to regroup. However, at this juncture Donal had already become very interested in electronic music and decided to learn more and bought various pieces of gear and before long was creating and writing his own breed of dance music in his home based studio. This was all great fun for Donal but wanting to play to crowds again was his motivation to seek out a creative partnership.
On meeting, musical differences aside, Donal and Elliott gelled immediately. Having a live jam in Hyperstomp Studios was the confirmation that this was a project to put effort into, and so Redxdown was created. In 2004 they released their first EP; "When The Brightest Stars Rein". In 2005, then they took a step back and spent a large portion of time considering how they would play their type of material live. Experimenting with various approaches to working live, integrating software and hardware, they finally settled on a comfortable and reliable technique which was equally effective both in studio and on stage. In early 2006 Redxdown released two new songs, "Warm my Heart" and "How Can I Help", two very different songs again showcasing their creative and musical diversity as artists. In the months to follow a large emphasis was directed towards developing the live show with their first appearance in October 2006 in Cork, Ireland. At present, they are working on their first full length artist album "Mutilated Sample" due for release mid 2007 on RedxRecords.
