About Me

Well, there is a lot to say about me... none of it terribly interesting but a lot none the less... I am Cowboy Dave, this is a DJing name I have been using for a decade or more now. It comes from the cowboy hat I am wearing in that cheezy self portrait on my home page. I bought the hat in London while I was in the navy... Brief Bio: Born in Pontiac MI, Lived in Michigan until 9, then moved to England for 7 years ('83 - '90) and then came back to the states. I graduated British high school (comprehensive school) at 16 and American HS at 17. I am and really have always been a military person. I spent 2 1/2 years with the British Royal Navy and another 2 1/2 years with the British Royal Air Force (LONG STORY) and then I did 4 years active duty in the US Navy where I was stationed on the USS George Washington CVN-73 and then after three years in the IRR (Individual Ready Reserve) Idecided to give the Army a try in the form of the Army Reserves. I have been in the Army Reserves since the end of 1998 and I currently hold the rank of Staff Sergeant (fairly pathetic for what I should be - another LONG story). My reserve unit is in Fraser MI where I am an Infantry instructor; in May of 2004 I was activated to active duty in support of the War and was stationed at FT Benning GA for 18 months where I continued to teach infantry skills as an instructor. When I am not on active duty... I am a full time student at the university of Michigan Dearborn, where I am a senior with a major in CIS (Computer Information Systems - or networking). I am and have also been an industrial / gothic and 80s DJ since the early to mid ninties. I have spun numerous nights at clubs both in Virginia and Michigan as well as college radio. I also spun in GA for a year and a half while on active duty at the Secret Room at the Masquerade and Future. I currently have an 80's show on WUMD college radio for UofM Dearborn on Tuesdays from 3-5pm. http://www.listen.to/wumd

My Interests

Killing, computers, DJing, killing, photography, martial arts, scifi channel, scuba diving, teaching others to kill, the history channel, paint ball, spelunking, did I mention Killing? Just kidding on the killing thing if you hadn't guessed...

I'd like to meet:

Fun loving people who like to do things - Like Diving, Spelunking (Caving), paint ball, etc. People who take music seriously, preferably Industrial, Gothic, Synthpop, Futurepop, EBM, Darkwave, and of course 80's... It's all about the 80's. I am in Detroit again and looking to get back into the swing of things. I would like to meet a lot of new people now that I'm back.

Movies:

I admit it I'm a geek. I tend to like the SciFi type flicks. Now were talking Highlander, Stargate, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings type stuff and not the lowgrade SciFi stuff. I also dig forign flick as they don't seem to have budgets and so their movies have to rely on good plots and story lines and not special effects. It's good to see a good movie everyonce in a while and not just a beutiful movie. OF course being in the military practically my entire life, I do also have a thing war War flicks, but only things like Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down...

Television:

SciFi Channel - Mainly Stargate SG-1 (Huge Fan), Highlander the series (Was a huge fan - off the air now). I also like to watch charmed, Buffy and Angel from time to time as well. Again the whole SciFi geek thing. I am also a huge fan of the history channel (though not so much lately). I also like to keep tabs on G4-TechTV as well as there is a serious amount of good information that gets passed out there on good software and upcomming games - I am a gamer after all.

Books:

Must have Pictures and words with few syllables....

Heroes:

Those guys and gals in Iraq and Afghanistan doing what they've got to do to get the Job done right and come back home safely - god knows I could be joining them soon enough...
