I am here for Dating, Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a thirty five year old psychologist working for PPS. I moved to PDX in 2004 to be near my niece. I live in the Pearl District with my diva cat Pooh. I am looking to meet interesting young professionals to network or hang out with. I am not "looking" for people to date. If a potential friendship turned into a relationship that would be great. I had the e-harmony experience and it wasn't good. I am not looking to recreate that experience.I grew up in North Carolina on the beach, so I hate the weather in Portland and am still trying to adjust. I am often introverted until I get to know people. This is sometimes misinterpreted as arrogance. I just don't let my gaurd down until I know people then I am very social

My Interests

Running, working out, yoga, reading, Shark Week.

I'd like to meet:

Friends, running partners and people to hang out with.

Music:

Varied. I like some country like the Dixie Chicks and Sarah Evans. However, some of it is to depressing. Grew up during the Motley Crue era. I am not a head banger, but I do like eighties music. My IPOD is a mixture of dance, eighties, country, rap, beach music etc... Also some Jimmy Buffet that I think my brother snuck on ... Not a parrot head

Movies:

Not much of a movie watcher. I really have trouble sitting through a whole movie. If I do watch, its an 80s flick on cable. My favorite movie is probably Jaws. I also like chick flicks like Legally Blond, Sleepless in Seattle etc.. I would really rather read and I HATE to sit in a movie theater.

Television:

Shark Week. Discovery channel & A & E. Guilty pleasure is Amercia's Next Top Model.

Books:

I read both for pleasure and to increase my knowledge base in areas related to child and school psychology. One of my favorite books is: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. A must read for anyone who deals with children with Aspergers or high functioning Autism. I also like to read books related to forensic psychology. The Lovely Bones was a great book. I love anything written by Wally Lamb. Shes Come Undone and I Know This Much is True are great books. I like some Stephen King although his earlier stuff is better. I think my favorite novel was Bag of Bones. His new stuff is really over the top. I think getting run over may have finally pushed him over the edge. I'll shut up now, I think you get the point. I love to read!

Heroes:

My Brother (yes, he's typing this). I also admire my parents who are/were great role models. OK, they are a little eccentric, but they are sincere, loyal people who would do anything for their children or grandchildren. I believe their modeling of unconditional love has made my brother a great parent. My nine year old niece is also my hero. She often reminds my how unbiased and empathetic children can be compared to adults. She reminds auntie to look at the glass half full. Finally, David Hassellhoff JUST KIDDING seeing if you were awake!
