About Me

I've got drink in my hand and my toes in the sand. I'm an easy going 39-year-old attorney who is a "tool belt" at heart. I tend to say what I think, which sometimes leads to not being very PC. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor.I grew up outside Chicago, but moved to the coast of NC in 1980. I spent my high school years surfing, water skiing, and hanging on the beach. I attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill. In the late 80s and early 90s, I was a sports writer and TV broadcaster in NC, SC and Fla. In '92, I packed everthing I owned into my car and moved to Portland to attend law school at Lewis & Clark. I have been practicing law (mostly commercial litigation) in the PDX area since 1995.I live in SE PDX, the Woodstock area. I have a great nine-year-old daughter and a spastic yellow lab. I love most outdoor activities (especially water-realted ones) and nearly all sports. I would rather be in the game than watching from the side line. Nirvana is sitting on a warm beach sipping a cold beverage and watching the day drift by. Floating a lazy river in August isn't all that bad either.

My Interests

Remodeling/refurbishing my 1906 Woodstock area home, refurbishing my '72 Blazer (aka "yard art"), camping, golf, softball, photography, and playing with my nine-year-old daughter. I love baseball and UNC sports. I am a huge Cubs and Carolina fan.

I'd like to meet:

Fun loving, down to earth, & interesting people who are happier drinking a cold beverage & watching the sunset on the beach than doing the "social scene." People who are comfortable just being themselves. In other words, my sugar magnolia. A trophy wife wouldn't be bad either! :)

Music:

Big Jimmy Buffet and Greatful Dead fan. Love the Blues (all kinds) and Cajun music too. Best artist you never heard of: Ricky Fonte. Not a fan of rap, most country or metal.

Movies:

I like old Westerns and WWII movies. Pretty much anything with Clint or John Wayne. The best movie ever made is Raiders of the Lost Ark. Caddy Shack, Stripes and Animal House are up there too.

Television:

Not much of a TV guy. I'd rather do than watch. I don't have cable. When I do watch, its either PBS, or a baseball or football game that I've taped. I will pretty much watch any war documentary or nature show.

Books:

I read serious stuff all day at work. At home, it's mostly the paper or Sports Illustrated. I love the classic comic strips. Calivn & Hobbes and Bloom County are my favorites. My absolute favorite strip is Bloom County's "Naked in the Perriwinkle." My favorite current strip is Pearls Before Swine. The last really good book I read was The daVinci Code.

Heroes:

Everyday people who face extreme adversity and manage to not only survive, but prevail and thrive.
