About Me

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: if you send me a friend request and i know you from, like, the internet...or a really long time ago...or work and your myspace pic is you with a funnel and i'd never recognize you (you get the idea), send me a message! i generally only add people i know (and really good bands that i want to remember to go see some weekend) and i'd hate to reject someone i actually know because i think they're just another myspace ho.
e.mo here. i'm a wannabe fashiondesigner, a writer, and an editor. i grew up in maine and i can't shake a lot of my small-town habits like making cookies for the neighbors and talking to strangers at the store.
i read comic books (mostly marvel....mostly x-titles) and children's books... but if i AM going to read real books, they're by nick hornby, because he is god...or at least god-ish. i also love douglas coupland and anna maxted. i'm a little bit country, and a little bit (punk)rock 'n roll. i listen to "cherry pie" by warrant pretty much every day.
i used to run my college newspaper (so you better 'preciate!) and somehow that led to my new job at the new yorker magazine! i'm an editorial production associate and i work in the makeup (not to be confused with make-up) department with the most amazing colleagues ever! i also have a few bylines under my belt at unafilliated publications and am looking into publishing poetry, short fiction, and hopefully within the next 12 months my first full-blown children's novel.
i'm totally wikkid taking over brooklyn. i am the master of the subway. diners here deliver. bring on the theme parties! places you might find me are rock clubs in the east village, times square, used book stores, any grocery store with cheddar beer kettle chips, fabric shopping in chinatown, and a puddle of my own drool on the couch in front of a tv blaring law & order or csi or some other crime drama.
i moonlight as a lyricist for the band oilhead . i am forever endebted to graham wright, my college buddy, for reminding me that it's been my dream since i was like 12 to write lyrics and be involved in songwriting. now i'm doing it again and i love it, though sometimes i forget that lyrics and poetry are very distant cousins. check out their myspace page!
my top three favorite things are hugs, mail, and mixtapes (yes, TAPES) - in that order. no, seriously, if you make me a tape i'll probably fall in love with you. if i fall in love with you, i will probably bake you lots of cookies and frequently make you dinner since i cook and bake more than your average 50's housewife. also, once i got hit in the head with a baseball while playing with some boys outside. that was good times. and i like freckles.
wanna keep up on my writing & "art" & world domination? see my deviantART page (like...totally go there. i'll love you even more) prints of some of my best photos are now available at reasonable prices (read: i knocked down the default dA prices 'cause holy crap they want your left arm).
i live with these cats: telemachus (l) and mocha (r).
i answer to telemachus and the recently aquired mocha, who needs a better name that has some mochaness in it.
tunes
i don't even like spiderman!
