About Me

I spend my days inside a lab located at a landfill in its postclosure stage. I am a 41 yr old mom of 4 extremely bright and hilarious children. Love 'Smithsonian'; abhor 'Cosmopolitan', but before you read too much into that, know that I occasionally gorge on trashy tabloid fodder. I have been liberated of cable tv, but still manage to watch so much crap on dvd - - without the commercials. Some of my favorite compliments involve my driving skills and my hearing (I take all tests seriously).I love baseball, now that I understand it. Politically, I consider myself to be 'alternative-conservative'. From the time I was 10, I've wanted to be an archaeologist. Lately, I've begun to regret that I will probably never make it to the South Pole. People I admire: Sir Ernest Shackleton, Michael Josephson, Joss Whedon, and Dr. Laura Schlessinger. My newest hobby: the frugal travel experience!***

My Interests

I enjoy discovering new music, of all genres. I am the mom of gifted kids, so I like finding new ways to stimulate their brains by providing a wide range of experiences - - artistic, human, and academic. I write reviews of movies, books, and music on Amazon.com. I love crafts of all kinds! I enjoy planning roadtrips and always feel a little sad when they are done. I am doing more hiking these days. I like to read biographies. And most of all, I love to exasperate and bemuse my wonderful husband. Here is a video montage I made for him Father's Day 2006 - - the kids are older now!:

Make video montages at onetruemedia.comAnd here's a video I made to honor being my kids' mom:

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to have the following people over for a barbeque: Joss Whedon (I actually have met him, but he remains top of the list because he was so freakin' nice, I want to meet him again!), Charlie Kaufman, William Shakespeare, Ben Stein, John Adams, Robert Rodriguez, Howard Carter, Sir Ernest Shackleton, William Gaines, Queen Elizabeth I, and Mary - Queen of Scots (but not at the same time) As much as I adore Quentin Tarantino as an artist, I just don't think I could tolerate his nervous-edginess-slash-overconfidence for very long. Fiona Apple's "Not About Love"

I love this song.  But I have been ruined by the video with Zack Galifianakis, so everytime I hear it, I see him singing it.  I know the line is "I miss that stupid ache", but I really think...

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and I am scrambling, trying to squeeze in as much music as I can.  I don't know why, it's not like the music is going to end on 12/31.  Maybe it ju...

Just an observation

Softening up in my old age

I can be so straight-laced in so many areas of my life.  I think John and I both share that trait.  We can be rebels about many things, but when it comes to "core-values", or "traditional" v...
