About Me

CLARENCE W. VINCENT, III --
[noun]:
An immortal
'How will you be defined in the dictionary?' at QuizGalaxy.com Clarence W. Vincent, III, also known as Merck or Marcus Graham 2.0, is a poet, a teacher, a student, a lover, a friend, a musician, and an all around Artist. Born in Baltimore City, Merck takes his interesting views of life and its challenges, and converts it into an art form he simply calls Love/Life. "Love & Life are art forms and I am an Artist," a brand of understanding Merck tries teaching to the world. Through a unique educational background (Baltimore City Public Schools, The Peabody Institute, & Cornell University), and a bit of hardship, Merck has attempted to grow his experience into making him the man he is today. With his poetry, he looks to create joy out of the joyless, give sight to the blind, and create a better tomorrow for future generations. The 2001 Poet of The Year (Cornell University) has looked to continue that mission with the development of his first collection of work, "She & Her Dreams (A series of interconnecting poems that tells a story of every young, black, inner city woman.)" "I feel we as artist are the keys to unlock the doors to the future. Art is a coded language. We should not confuse industry and artistry. One must approach his or her art forms with a loving, open heart. Your art is your off spring, your child, and a life that should be valued. This is why I have so much passion in my works. I am often asked why don't I perform as much or why I don't write as much as I once did? I respond, I had to raise my children. Though I have no physical children, I had to raise my art forms. I don't write for an audience. I write and create, to make us better. I write so that a homeless man can one day be comforted by his heart and not the bottle in his hand. I write so that "Brenda's Got A Baby" doesn't become the new Negro National Anthem. I write so that 12 year old homosexual boys and 12 year old homosexual girls can realize that being gay is not the "In Thing" to do. I write for my crack fiend mother and my alcoholic father who were never there for themselves. I write so that our children don't grow up like me. I write because I am a student first, a fan second, and a prophet never. I write for profits, NEVER! I write so that we all can drink from the Inkwell of Artistry. I write and create so that we can get better. I write for life. I sing for love. I play for the future. I am an Artist; my life is an art form. My Interests

I am greatly interested in the arts. That includes, but is not limited to, poetry, theater, all genres of music, phography, painting, sculpting, fashion, just to name a few. I am also interested in community. I have a great desire to end alot of social ignorances that destroy urban communities. I have an interest in history as well as future generations!I am into History. It was His story that kept me from making the same mistakes my father made in a past life.
