About Me

..

FUR IS DEAD
Approximately 3.5 million fur-bearing animals--raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, beavers, otters, and others--are killed each year for their fur by trappers in the U.S. Another 2.7 million animals are raised on fur "farms."
Ranch-raised foxes are kept in cages only 2.5 feet square (minks in cages 1-foot-by-3-feet), with up to four animals per cage.
Animals can languish in traps for days. Up to 1 out of every 4 trapped animals escapes by chewing off his or her own feet, only to die later from blood loss, fever, gangrene, or predation.
Every year, thousands of dogs, cats, raptors, and other so-called "trash" animals (including endangered species like the bald eagle) are crippled or killed by traps.
To kill the animals without damaging their fur, trappers usually strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine, or have their necks snapped. These methods are not 100 percent effective and some animals "wake up" while being skinned.

DON'T EAT BIRDS!
Upon entering the slaughterhouse, fully conscious birds are hung by their feet from metal shackles on a moving rail. Although poultry are specifically excluded from the federal Humane Slaughter Act (which requires that animals be stunned before they are slaughtered), many slaughterplants first stun the birds in an electrified water bath in order to immobilize them and expedite assembly line killing.
However, stunning procedures are not monitored, and they are often inadequate. Poultry slaughterhouses commonly set the electrical current lower than what is required to render the birds unconscious because of concerns that too much electricity would damage the carcasses and diminish their value. The result is that while birds are immobilized after stunning, they are still capable of feeling pain, and many emerge from the stunning tank still conscious.
These birds are typically crowded by the thousands into huge, factory-like warehouses where they can barely move. Turkeys are each given less than three square feet. Shortly after hatching, turkeys have the ends of their beaks cut off, and also have the ends of their toes clipped off. These mutilations are performed without anesthesia, ostensibly to reduce injuries that result when stressed birds are driven to fighting.
Please don't support this cruelty!

GO VEGAN!
For the animals, for the environment, and for your health.
Despite the common belief that drinking milk or eating eggs does not kill animals, commercially-raised dairy cows and egg-laying chickens, whether factory-farmed or 'free range,' are slaughtered when their production rates decline.
Animal agriculture takes a devastating toll on the earth. It is an inefficient way of producing food, since feed for farm animals requires land, water, fertilizer, and other resources that could otherwise have been used directly for producing human food.
The consumption of animal fats and proteins has been linked to heart disease, colon and lung cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, obesity, and a number of other debilitating conditions. Cows' milk contains ideal amounts of fat and protein for young calves, but far too much for humans.

"It takes 17 pounds of grain to produce one pound of meat. If we would just eat the grain and leave the animals alone, we would feed the entire world and stop starvation."
--Russell Simmons
"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men."
--Alice Walker

"Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are like us.' Ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: 'Because the animals are not like us.' Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction." -Charles R. LOOK AT BUTTERBALL'S HOUSE OF HORRORS!

Butterball workers were documented punching and stomping on live turkeys, slamming them against walls, and worse during an undercover investigation at a Butterball slaughterhouse in Ozark, Arkansas.

"The Gaia hypothesis sees the Earth as a single, living organism. Imagine, then, if it could talk. What might it say about us, in a couple of aeons time after we are sure to have died out? "Humans?", it might say, "Yes, I remember them, a most stupid life-form that lived here for a very short time. They invented this thing called technology and they modified their surroundings so that it did not support them any more. They tried to run before they could walk, fell over and wiped themselves out" – Dr. Tony Butt (oceanographer, surfer)
